The Scientific Revolution
Omar M. 6th period
What was the change?
The scientific revolution was the point in time when people began to explore the wonders of astronomy, mathematics, science, and philosophy. There were philosophes that dedicated their lives to explore and question the natural world around them. Eventually, people began to ponder whether what they were led to believe was true. Philosophers began to prove everything that they thought to be true, in fact false.
Who were the people associated with the change?
The scientific revolution started with Nicholas Copernicus ,Johannes Kepler, and Galileo Galilei and ended with Sir Issac Newton.
Copernicus
Copernicus was an astronomer and best known for his heliocentric cosmology theory .Copernicus came up with the heliocentric theory which was earth was not centered of the universe, the sun is. Fear of rejection but he wrote a book called the De Revolutionibus Orbium Coelestium. He died the day it was out but later on other men come and bring out his theory to be right.
Kepler
Kepler continued Copernicus work in which to be proven right. Kepler was the first person to determine that the Earth and planets orbited the sun. With result of his discoveries, he published his Laws of Planetary Motion.
Galileo
Galileo contributed to astronomy where he used a telescope to study the plantes & physics for gravity and the moon. He had also shattered Aristotle's theory about perfect substance of the universe so he pointed his telescope at the sky revealing that the mood had a irregular surface. When the church heard about Galileos ideas of Copernicus theory being true they worried people would started questioning the church. The church had threaten Galileo to torte him if he doesn't say Copernicus ideas were false in court. He than came later on saying they were false but he was no longer a free man and lived under house arrest.
Newton
Isaac Newton is regarded as one of the most influential thinkers in the history of science. Newton made the three laws of universal gravitation, which transformed the structure of physical science. He combined of Copernicus, Keppler, Galileo, and Descartes. One of his major accomplishments was the invention of the reflecting telescope. This telescope was six inches long, magnified objects 40x, and eliminated color fringes. He discovered that sunlight is actually composed of all the colors of the rainbows and this light could be separated and recombined into white light

How did the change impact society at the time?
People were using logic for theories that could be proved, not just believed. This made a big impact on people, especially in respect to how they viewed religion. The church feared reason as an enemy of faith, but eventually began to embrace some of the achievements of the Scientific Revolution.
How is that change evidenced in today's modern society
people throughout began to expand their views on the true realities that surrounded them. The scientific method is a way to connect our observations and our experiments to result in an outcome that reveals the total truths.Technology is based on problems and solutions that we now a days must over come.
