Looking for a few more Judges
We are looking for parents of students in Kindergarten through 4th grade with some science background to help judge our 5th Grade Science Fair. It is not necessary but if you are Spanish speaking that would be a plus.
The VV Science Fair and the SARSEF Regional Fairs are 100% virtual which is why only 5th graders are participating from Ventana Vista.
The judging will take place from February 10-12 and will be done remotely. You will have a rubric to help judge, and you will also give feedback to the projects that you look at (Feedback example: I like how you... and one thing you could work on is...). We will meet remotely one time as a group to determine the students who will move on to the SARSEF Regional Fair.

Family Engagement Update
Multicultural Library Books
Bella Wexler was a former VVE student who made a monetary donation to our library to purchase books about interculturality, language acquisition and global citizenship. Below are the books that were purchased. Bella also wrote and published her own non-fiction book encouraging kids to build friendships across linguistic differences and geographic distances. Her book is available in the library. Bella is currently a senior at Catalina Foothills High School.
School Shout Outs!
School Shout Outs!
One way we spread kindness in our school community is by giving students or staff members shout outs during morning announcements. We’ve had students recognize their peers for so many great things! One student helped a friend up who had fallen on the playground, another helped pick up papers for someone who had dropped them, and one Bobcat helped carry another class’ heavy lunch bucket to the MPR. Teachers also take time to recognize students and other teachers for being helpful, considerate or responsible. And this morning, Mrs. Mulay recognized all of Kindergarten for demonstrating fantastic lunchroom behavior yesterday! What kind words have you shared with someone lately?
FFO CORNER
Silent Auction and Color Run
We will be having a Bobcat Color Run and silent auction this spring and we're looking for donations!
Do you own a hotel or vacation property?
Do you make quilts?
Do you own a cleaning business, restaurant or other service?
Do you have season tickets to a sporting event?
We'd love you to consider donating an item or service to our campaign. We are raising funds for shade structures in front of the school for kids. We will be holding a silent auction this spring with items donated from our families and our community. Please reach out to nicoleventanavistaffo@gmail.com to donate or with any questions (including tax documents for your donation).
FFO Board Members
We will have several open board positions for next school year. Becca Hudgens (secretary) and Nicole Whelan (member at large) are staying on in new positions for next year, but we are still in need of a Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Please email lynnealee.molina@gmail.com if you're interested or for more information. It's a great way to help be involved in school events and get to know other parents.
Art Fundraiser (Virtual)
Be on the lookout for information on our art fundraiser coming up next month. You will have the opportunity to purchase your child's art and help support our school.
This fundraiser will be running virtually from February 23-March 9.
