Forecasting Season
With the New Year, our planning for the 2021-2022 school year get's into full-swing. In the coming week, students will learn about their course choices for the next academic year. Please note the dates below & support your student in making course choices for next year. If you have specific questions about this process or the decisions your student is making, please connect with your student's school counselor.
Between Jan. 6-13: Students will research options, review course guide, connect w/ teachers & counselors for support and talk to family.
Jan. 13: In Advisory class, students will enter forecasting choices in Google form. Students will sign up for an individual conference with their counselors to review.
Middle School Forecasting
Semester Ends
On Feb. 1 all students will begin a new set of 4 classes (periods 5-8 in Parent/StudentVUE).
Bank of America Student Leader Program
Through Student LeadersĀ®, Bank of America recognizes high school students who lead and serve in their own communities and beyond. They connect Student Leaders to tools and resources to help make communities better.
As a Student Leader, you will:
- Work as a paid intern at a local nonprofit for eight weeks
- Attend the weeklong Student Leaders Summit in Washington, D.C. (all expenses paid).
- Develop leadership and career skills
- Connect with like-minded students from your own community and across the country
PCC Preview Day
Is your student considering PCC after they graduate?
Portland Community College will be hosting a virtual event for high school students to participate in a brief introduction to their programs and services. During Preview Day, you will:
- Get valuable information on how to prepare to attend PCC
- Hear about programs, degrees, and certificates
- Spend time interacting with PCC faculty and staff
- Learn about financial aid and other scholarship opportunities

OSAC- awards more than $10 million in scholarships annually to Oregon students. Student complete one application, multiple local scholarship opportunities!
**Al Forthan Memorial Scholarship - $10,000 & other amounts
Oregon high school seniors that have been raised by a parent or guardian who has experienced addiction or the student has abused alcohol and drugs and are now pursuing recovery.
Complete application by Feb. 1.
**Mattress Lot Scholarship - $8000
- Graduating Senior June 2021
- Attending 4-year college in Fall 2021
- Minimum GPA 3.5
- Complete application by Feb. 26
**Diversity in Leadership - up to $25,000 over four years
The Oregon College Savings Plan is working to make it easier for everyone to pursue education and chase their dreams. Worth up to $25,000, the Diversity in Leadership scholarship is here to support Oregon students and make secondary education of all kinds a little more accessible.
**Renaissance Scholarship - $4000, renewable
The Renaissance Scholars Program provides renewable scholarships for high achieving, first-generation college students with financial need. The scholarship contributes up to $4,000 a year. In addition to funds, scholars receive support from foundation staff in navigating the higher education system & persisting to graduation. Scholars are invited to foundation sponsored events throughout the year to encourage connections between our scholars and our staff.

Portland Evening Scholars
Classes occur once/week from Feb. 22 - May 27, 5:00-8:15 pm.
Youth Resource App
The Youth Resource App is a free resource for all Portland area youth, funded by PPS and created by the PPS mental health advisory team along with 100+ PPS students.
Search "youth resource app" on the Apple app and Google Play app stores.
PPS does not specifically endorse any of the listed agencies. Each organization has their own independent mission and vision.
If a student does not have a phone, they can access the same information on their Chromebook using this website.
Mental health support
Multnomah County's Student Health Center continues to provide counseling services through virtual & phone appointments. If you want to help your student get connected, reach out to their school counselor for a referral.
