From the Guidance Office.....
Tutoring Program:
If anyone would like to access a tutor during the school day they see Ms. Cusick to see if it can work in their schedule. Drop in tutoring is also available in the library after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00-4:00pm.
Skills Canada:
Skills Canada NL will be partnering with the College of the North Atlantic β Burin Campus to deliver a Skilled Futures event on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, and we have been invited with space for 25 attendees. Students are invited to participate in hands-on workshops in CNAβs Nursing, Welding, and Electrical courses. In the afternoon, students will take part in a mentoring session with people who are currently working in these types of careers. Students will also receive free lunch and a t-shirt. Any student can apply, but we will be giving preference to Grade 12 students who have either registered at CNA or considering doing so this fall. A Google form will be posted on our school website early next week for anyone interested, and the deadline to apply is Friday, Feb. 9th.
Memorial University:
Starting this month MUN will be contacting students that have applied to both MUN's St.John's and Grenfell campuses to set up individual advising sessions for course selection for the upcoming Fall semester. There will be representatives from MUN visiting our school in mid March (date TBD) to meet with applicants as a group to discuss all things related to navigating first year university and I will be arranging that with the Academic Advising Centre. More to come which will be posted in the Grade 12 Google Classroom. Deadline to apply to MUN for those interested in being considered for entrance scholarships is March 1st.
