How Nike Was Created
Nike was originally founded by a Oregon track athlete by the name of Phil Knight and his coach Bill Bowerman on January 1964. Nike was originally known as Blue Ribbon Sports and operated as a distributor for Japanese shoe maker Onitsuka Tiger (Now Asics) making most sales at track meets. They changed there name to "Nike" on May 30, 1971. Co-founder Dan Wieden coined the now-famous slogan "Just Do It" first advertisement which debuted on July 1, 1988.
The Products Of Nike
Nike sells good to consumers mainly teens and younger. They sell shoes, clothes, and socks. Consumers mainly focus on their shoes they sell like Nike's and Jordan's.
Purpose
Nike has acquired several apparel and footwear companies over the course of its history. Its first acquisition was a upscale footwear company Cole Haan in 1988. They bought surf apparel company Hurley International in 2003. Nike paid 309 million dollars to buy Converse the makers of Chuck Taylor's All-Stars line of sneakers. They acquired Starter in 2004. Nike owns Jordan's and some of the NBA stars shoes because they signed with Nike like Lebron James and Russell Westbrook
