U6 Warm & Demanding
Becoming a warm demander begins with establishing a caring relationship that convinces students that you believe in them. The saying goes, "It's not what you say that matters; it's how you say it." In acting as a warm demander, "how you say it" matters, but who you are and what students believe about your intentions matter more. When students know that you believe in them, they will interpret even harsh-sounding comments as statements of care from someone with their best interests at heart. As one student commented, "She's mean out of the kindness of her heart" (Wilson & Corbett, 2001, p. 91).
Back to School Night was a SUCCESS, THANK YOU!

Snacks/Treats At School
Parents/guardians are not permitted to send snacks/treats to school for distribution to the students during the school day unless it is part of an organized classroom activity. No unsupervised pizza parties, cupcakes, etc… in the classroom or lunch area, and no flowers, balloons, or food will be delivered to students during school. We support authorized school parties hosted by the classroom teacher and/or room parents. This means that unless the teacher is organizing the event, NO SNACKS OR TREATS! Examples are: a multicultural event, or an event related to the curriculum and even then the snacks/treats should be store bought. An alternative for parents are non-edible treats (i.e. pencils, books, etc...).
