A Message from the Principal's Desk
Greetings, members of the Kingsway community! Kingsway Regional Middle School is off to an outstanding start to the 2021-22 school year. The seventh grade tours that took place in August were very well attended and helped tremendously in transitioning our seventh graders to the middle school. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend Back to School Night on September 22nd. If you were unable to attend, a link for the Back to School presentation can be found on the middle school website under the ‘For Parents’ tab. We look forward to a productive October as our school focuses on the theme of Respect throughout the month. Additionally, our students are signing up for our plethora of clubs and activities, and our newly formed sports teams are in full swing.
Sincerely,
Brian Tonelli
Communication
Start Strong: As per requirements outlined by the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE), Kingsway Regional School District will administer the Start Strong assessments in English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, and Science. The Start Strong assessment is intentionally brief, and student scores will be used by teachers to aid in making decisions about what supports students may need in the classroom. Parents can expect to receive a score report within the coming months. The middle school will be testing on October 4th.Click here to learn more about Start Strong.

In addition to the monthly activities and themes, we will be continuing our after school club entitled, Dragon SPARK which will serve as an opportunity to get our students further involved with this effort. We are extremely excited about launching this program, and we are certain that all students are sure to benefit from our commitment to this focus area. October's theme is Respect.
Renaissance: Congratulations to our 84 eighth grade Renaissance card holders. Due to their hard work and attention to community service, these Dragons spent last Friday at Dave and Buster’s.
Renaissance Program: The Renaissance Program is collecting gift cards to be raffled off at one of our 4 celebrations this year! We are asking that these gift cards be in the $10-$20 range. We will purchase the big ticket items such as Beats Headphones and Air Pods, but we are asking for help with the smaller raffle prizes. Please send the gift cards to the Main Office, or have your child place a marked envelope in their Homeroom Folder. These raffles will take place during the "Middie Check Ins" (November and April) and the "Semester Celebrations" (January and June). While we would like to have donations by Wednesday, September 22nd, you are free to make donations throughout the school year. Thank you in advance for your support of our Renaissance Program! Any questions can be directed to Stephanie Owens: owenss@krsd.us.

respect looks good on both of you!

Red Ribbon Week: Red Ribbon Week began in 1988 in memory of DEA agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, who was murdered while undercover with the DEA. The goal of this week’s announcement is to help educate our students about the negative effects and impact of drug use.
