Book Faire Week of 2/20
The Book Fair Committee would like to announce that this year’s Book Fair will be Tuesday, February 20, 2017 - Saturday, February 26, 2017, in the library. The library will be closed that week, but please bring your classes in at the regular time so kids can shop or make wish lists.
Valentine's Day Candy?
Please remind your students that this expectation includes the week of valentine's day.
Encourage students NOT to bring candy to pass out. If students bring candy to share, this needs to be put into backpacks and brought home and not eaten at school.
If you have a party, create a sign up so that one family brings a treat while others can provide veggies, cheese/crackers, fruit, etc.
California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS) for Parents
CHKS Parents
For the month of February 2017, Glenview is collaborating with California Healthy Kids to administer a survey to parents, students (5th grade only) and staff. This survey was designed to give us non-academic insight into our students’ well-being.
Last year, Glenview was a Triple Crown Winner and we hope for the same this year. If we reach our goals, our school will be entered into a drawing (with other Triple Crown Winners) to receive a freshly cooked breakfast and our school gets a plaque! To be eligible to win, we need to survey at least 40% of parents, 70% of 5th grade students, and 90% of staff by Monday, February 27, 2017.
To reach this goal, we are offering the chance to win a prize to the teachers who rally their class to meet the parent goal (40%):
Raffle Drawing - for teachers with the most completed parent surveys
(due to budget cuts, we will not be offering a class party prize this year)
This campaign will kick off Monday, February 6, 2017, when we will distribute hard copies of the parent surveys. Please send the parent surveys (hard copies) home with your students. Parents will also have the option to complete the survey online.
If completed online, they should turn in a screenshot of the last page of the survey as proof of completion. You can then check off their name on the checklist attached to the envelope.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact Ms. Morgan (linda.morgan@ousd.org) or Ms. Cabral (chrystia.cabral@ousd.org). Thank you for your participation!
California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS) for Staff
Staff members will be given the opportunity to fill out this California Healthy Kids Survey (called the OUSD Staff School Climate Survey) at the Glenview staff meeting on Monday, February 13. All staff members are encouraged to attend the staff meeting to complete this task, including aides and prep teachers.
This survey is designed to provide schools with data useful for fostering a positive learning and working environment that promotes academic success among all students. Your survey participation is important in that we wish have accurate and useful data which is representative of your experience.
Answer the questions based on your experiences only at the school that asked you to complete it, not your experiences with the district overall or another school where you might also work.
Questions about staff or adults at the school refer to ALL staff — administrators, teachers, teaching assistants, counselors, and all other certificated and classified staff.
All responses are anonymous and confidential. A few questions ask for personal information, such as the work you do at the school, how long you have done it, and your race/ethnicity, but the survey reports will contain only percentages for all respondents combined. If there are less than 11 respondents in any group, that data will not be made available.
If you would like to complete this survey in advance, here is the link:
We are aiming for at least a 90% participation rate from staff members. Please contact Linda Morgan (linda.morgan@ousd.org) for more information.
Thank you!
Have a concern? Want to raise an issue?
Next Meeting will be Tuesday, February 28th.
