The Auditorium
The stage was built with 118,404 square feet, 11,000 square meters that allowed space for 450 players.
Chandelier
The main chandelier weighs 6 1/2 tons.
It took 13 painters, 73 sculptors, and 14 plasterers and stucco specialists
The accident
One counterweight from the chandelier fell from the chandelier mysteriously and killed one opera patron. Also, the basement of the opera house was flooded. All of these incidents inspired Leroux to write the Phantom of the Opera
