It's hard to believe we're already talking about this, but starting March 4th, we will begin taking registrations for 2024-2025 kindergartners! You will be able to register your students online or in-person starting Monday. Share with your family, friends, and neighbors who have kids getting ready to start the 24-25 school year. This is always such a fun time of year as we get to know our brand new Panthers.

Trimester 2 Assemblies and School Projects
Our second trimester of the year continues until March 22, and this has been a busy season for our school community! I would like to give a shout out to all the students who participated in our January assembly celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision and legacy. Your songs, poems, artwork, and speeches were inspiring for our school community. At the end of January, many students participated in our Great Kindness Challenge, showing acts of kindness at school and around our community. In February, classrooms have continued learning about and honoring Black History Month. Many classrooms also learned about Lunar New Year in February as well as other traditions celebrated within our community and around the world, and our 5th grade Leadership Team organized a successful school-wide food drive to help give back to our community.
On February 7th, we saw a performance of The N.E.D. Show, teaching students how to be a champion at school by Never giving up, Encouraging others, and Doing your best. Our next assembly will be on March 20th, with a performance by Taproot Theater. This upcoming show, titled The Friend Ship, will help teach students to form positive friendship and to recognize and report bullying behaviors.
On April 1st, we will be inviting families to attend our Trimester 2 Awards Assembly. Thank you to families who responded to our fall survey asking for feedback about our assembly format. We will continue with the format of hosting separate K-2 and 3-5 awards assemblies as over 79% of survey respondents voted that they preferred this format. At our trimester awards assemblies, teachers are asked to choose a student or 2 from their class that stood out for their Academic Achievement, Extraordinary Effort, or PAWSitively Awesome behavior throughout the trimester. This is certainly a difficult decision for teachers as we know all our Picnic Point Panthers are working hard throughout the trimester, and teachers work to recognize different students across the trimesters so we can honor many students who have shown remarkable effort and achievement throughout the year. We hope students will be proud of themselves as well as their classmates whom they get to celebrate during the assembly. We also honor classes that have gone above and beyond in specialist classes and aim to celebrate together as a school for all the hard work of the trimester. We send out emails to families who have a student receiving an award, but also welcome any community members who would like to come celebrate the trimester with us. Go, Panthers!

The March 12 Presidential Primary is an opportunity for voters to help the major political parties select presidential nominees for the November General Election. To participate in the Presidential Primary, state law and political party rules require you to declare a political party preference at the time of voting and to vote for a candidate of your declared party. The political party you choose in the March 12 Presidential Primary does not limit how you vote in the November General Election or any future primary or election.
