IEC "GREAT KITE FLIGHT" 2021
Lew-Port IEC students participated in a "Great Kite Flight" through our Physical Education program these last few days of school.
Thank you to our amazing PTSA for providing a kite and supplies for every student.
Students decorated their kites during Art classes.
P.E. teachers taught them how to assemble the kites and tips for flying a kite.
The days of our event filled the sky with 40 plus kites per class in our field area behind the school.
The students truly enjoyed the kites and showing off their talents during this event.
Well done IEC - your Rocked the Kites!!!
Mrs. DuMoulin/ Miss Smith 4th Grade Class Passion Project:
Ecosystems in a Bottle!
Miss. Bradshaw's enrichment class explored biodomes and the process of working ecosystems. Students used the Engineering Design Process to research, plan, create and test working ecosystems. First they had to decide the type of ecosystem they wanted to create (Desert, Oceanic, or temperate), then they had to decide on the abiotic factors (Soil, rock, sand, water) and biotic factors (flowers, grass seed, water plants, cacti, worms, and fish) their ecosystems would house. Lastly, they had to come up with a method that allowed their plants to obtain water while also providing a safe home to their fish. Students have taken the responsibility of feeding and watering their ecosystems regularly and preparing water to sit overnight to safely transfer to their fish habitats. Thank you to all the parents and students who supplied the classroom with an endless amount of materials!
Forget to sign up for Band, Orchestra, or Chorus?
Attention 2021-2022 4th and 5th grade Families:
During May and June, your child was presented with the option of joining one of our music performing ensembles at the IEC for next school year. We would like to once again extend an invitation to the music program for those who did not sign up. We are still taking students who would like to participate in Band, Orchestra and/or Chorus. Please note, if your child chooses to play an instrument, they are able to sing in chorus as well. They do not have to choose one or the other.
The music ensemble program here at Lewiston-Porter is a well established course of study which aligns with the New York State Arts Standards. Choosing to be in a performing group is a journey filled with fun, excitement, and teamwork! Students learn to make music together in an ensemble which improves musicality and technique!
Available Orchestra instruments are: Violin, Viola, Cello and String Bass
Available Band instruments are: Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Euphonium(Baritone)
If you would like to sign your child up, please do not hesitate to email any one of us. We look forward to having your child in the music program.
Sincerely,

Mr. DiCamillo's class celebrates end of the year with an outside mask break
Poems from Mr. DiCamillo's Class
Dance
dance, dance, dance
Twirls and splits all the above
This costume fits like a glove
I love to dance it's fun and exciting
But, it can get exhausting
dance,dance,dance
All kinda from sassy to classy
If you mess up you might start to rage
Soon enough it's time to hit the stage
Dance, dance, dance
Sadly the year is over
But, we’ll be back in the groove in october

Dance
Music blasting my eardrums hurt
It's rehearsals im glad its not recital night
Because recital night gives me a fright!
Twisting and turning i feel like i'm flying
It feels like a solo not hiding backstage
The music stops the lights fade away
Now i'm not scared for recital day
Now i can't wait for the day it comes
Recital day is hear, I have no fear
Kids running up and down the halls
Some of these kids look like dolls
With all their makeup on
There buns are so slicked back
With hair spray jet black
It was time for awards
There were kids happily coming on stage
I was dozing off when they called my name
I hopped up and went to the front
Then it was all over
I can't wait to go back in October

Summer Day
It feels like 150 degrees
There are millions of bees
I wanna jump in the pool
To get really cool
When i jump in the pool it a little too cool
I get out of the pool and jump on the trampoline
Im soaring im flying i feel like a bird
I jump till i'm tired and don't say a word

Vampires
AH!
I got bit on my neck
My skin turns pale
Blood fills the hall
Even on the wall
I got pointy teeth
I hate the sun, garlic and, wooden stakes
Even though I try hard...
I’m a vampire now...gotta fly
I turn into a bat
I see my snack
Now time to eat
Suck all the blood
That's a yummy snack

Swim
Water splashes over me cold and wet.
I dive down deep until I can't breathe.
I swim like a fish, smooth and swift.
I look down and see a water paradise.
Now it's time for the race who I will have to chase.
Speeding over the water I look for my time.
I think to myself is that mine?
I get out of the pool, feeling cool.
Then I walked out with a smile on my face.
I had just won the race.
The crowd cheered and no one sneered.
I got a medal and bursted into tears.
Water droplets dripped off my skin.
I can not believe this happened.

The Sea
As is slip into the waves of the sea
I feel the fish swimming around my feet
I dive down deep, opening my eyes
And look at all the beautiful things
As curiosity fills me, I explore more
All too fast, I start going in circles
But I realized it was a riptide, I got scared
Spinning round and round, I couldn’t get out
I knew that soon my tank would be empty
Nobody knew where I was, nobody for miles
So I wouldn’t be found for quite a while
As the pressure builds up around my head
If only I could reach just ahead
I used all my strength to push myself there
Everything went black right before I was to the surface
Days later, I woke up in a white bed
I was feeling so sick in the head
I was so grateful I was alive

Dinosaur
Some maybe sore
About the death of the dinosaur
But soon you’ll see
How dangerous it would be
It would eat your friends
So you would have to fend
You better run
Before they have fun
They won't be fake
Because they’ll stomp you into a pancake
I hope now you see
How dangerous this world would be!

TAKE IT GREEN BOI
L’manburg, L’manburg, oh how your roots grow;
Raised up from the ground with no less but a hoe.
With an idea forged to fit hearts desire;
You burned to the ground from Schlatt’s reign of fire.
In the caverns below you were all but a memory, yet alas, above all, there was a secret enemy.
Though another day came a new leader elected;
TNT had been placed:

From the Art Room of Mrs. Frederick
It is with great pleasure that we present The Lewiston Porter Art Department’s first Virtual District Art Show! Traditionally, The Lewiston Porter Art Department hosts an Annual K-12 District Art Show celebrating the tremendous creativity of their student artists, which is always a highly popular and widely attended event. Due to the pandemic, things are naturally a bit different this year, so the art show has been adapted to a virtual format. This platform has allowed for the opportunity to showcase work from our art students and includes work created while they were in the school building and during remote instruction. In a year unlike any other, creativity has prevailed. Please join us in celebrating the amazing accomplishments of our students.
Please see the school website and seesaw to view the link, and students who were selected.
