PTO Nominations
All positions on the Munson PTO board are open for nominations in 2024-2025! This is a wonderful opportunity for parents to get involved in a very impactful way. The Munson PTO has a long history of providing our students and teachers with funds and resources, planning fun and memorable events for the school community, and maintaining school traditions and memories.
The board is comprised of President, Vice President (can be shared between two people), Treasurer, and Secretary. Each position is a year long commitment; the PTO meets once monthly, and each role is designed to fit into a parent's busy life.
If you are curious about any of the PTO board positions, please reach out to one of the current board members or the office. We are happy to answer any questions you have! Please consider attending our next meeting on April 18 at 6pm to hear more about the positions and to submit your name (or someone else's) for a nomination! Voting will take place at our May 16 meeting.

A Note From the Principal
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Munson is excited to bring back the Just Run program this spring! Just Run is a youth fitness program that promotes exercise and healthy lifestyle choices, and culminates in a Just Run Lake County 5K that all participants are invited to complete.
Our first practice will be Tuesday, April 2 right after school, from 3:45-4:30pm. You MUST send a note to school letting us know whether your child is staying for practice EVERY TIME. We have emailed links to handouts explaining all about Just Run, and will send home hard copies of those handouts today. We would love to have lots of parent volunteers!
Click HERE to sign your child up for Just Run! Please reach out to Chris (814-335-2465) or Karla Caruso (440-479-3249) with any questions or if you'd like to help! We have had great participation and lots of fun with Just Run in past years, and we know this year will be a blast, too. We hope to see lots of Munson runners at our first practice on April 2!
Sincerely,
Mathew Prezioso
Principal, Munson Elementary
Mr. Prez's Pic of the Week
Mr. Willy Wonka and his Oompa Loompas hope you all had a great time at Family Literacy Night, and that you enjoyed reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for One School One Book 2024!
Summer School FYI
Chardon Schools will hold summer school in June. Third grade testing will be the following week for any students who have not passed the required score for the AIR test. Stay tuned for more information!
Infinite Campus Annual Update
The Annual Update must be completed by ALL Chardon Local Schools households every year, for every student, even if there are no changes. This ensures that we have the most accurate information for your student and household. This helps us to contact you promptly in case of an emergency, allows you to pay for student meals and school fees online, and gives you access to important forms and documents, including report cards. We need your updated information as soon as possible! Please find Annual Update instructions HERE.

Topper Trait of the Month
One of our stations at Family Literacy Night was Pride Boards, where parents could write notes to their children sharing what makes them proud about their kids! Then we hung the Pride Boards in the hallway for all the students to see. We think it's meaningful and important for parents AND kids to communicate with each other - and it feels great to say AND hear compliments and kind thoughts!!

Title I
Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Educational Act (ESEA) provides students who qualify with extra instructional services and activities beyond regular classroom instruction. Click HERE for more information about the Title I program, and reach out to the school with any questions.
Lost & Found
We still have a collection of lost clothing, lunch boxes, water bottles, snow gear, etc.! Please ask your children to stop and check the lost & found in the main hallway for any items that might belong to them. Also, PLEASE LABEL ALL YOUR STUDENT'S ITEMS (including winter bags and all gear) with their names so that we can help return them to their owners! Thank you!
Please return any clothes your child has borrowed from school this year to the clinic or office. This is also a great time to get back in the habit of bringing EXTRA CLOTHING AND SHOES to school! You can keep them in backpacks or leave them in a cubby at school. The playground gets very muddy this time of year! Thank you!
Claridon Community Helps Thanks You!
Thank you, Munson families, for your amazing generosity for Claridon Community Helps' One Day Food Drive! Pictured is one of TWO carloads of food that you donated to local families! We appreciate your kindness and generosity so much!

Munson Staff Spotlight

What is your job? I teach 2nd grade but have also taught Kindergarten, third grade, and fifth grade at Munson.
How long have you been at Munson? 34 years!
What is your favorite thing about Munson? The best part about Munson is the people! I absolutely treasure my relationships with my present and past students, their parents, and my colleagues.
What do you like to do outside of school? I love to work and spend time outside in my garden and woods. I also love going to the theater and live music events. I enjoy reading, going to the movies, traveling, Pilates, spending time with animals, and doing anything with my daughter, Maddie, and dog, Oliver!
