The Siegrist Star

Student Led Quarter 2 Assembly:
This week we were able to kick off Wednesday with an assembly of CELEBRATIONS! The assembly was led by our Student Lighthouse Team. Our Choir and Showbiz kids started us off with our school song and sang the Hot Chocolate song. During our celebration assembly we celebrated the students who earned a Student Leader Award for the month of November, December and January and students who met a personal goal or a class that met a goal. These students had their name randomly picked to play a game and the The Student Lighthouse Team picked Mr. Bogart as the staff member to also participate. The students had to see how many marshmallows they could toss in the basket in one minute. First grade won!
PE, Art, Music, Library, Custodians and Lunchroom supervisors gave out Golden Awards to classes that have shown leadership, positive behaviors and responsibility.
Golden Awards – Art, Mrs. Roberts & Mrs. Schmidt's class. Library - Ms. Ditmars & Mrs. Villarreal's classes. PE - Mrs. Gilbert & Mrs. Venable's classes. Music - Ms. Abbey Wright & Mrs. Renick's classes. Lunchroom - Mrs. McCutcheon & Mr. Bogart's classes. Cleanest Classroom -Ms. Ditmars & Mrs. Villarreal's classes.
We kicked off the new year with all students receiving their Power Up Pirates character t-shirts. Students and staff will be wearing these new Siegrist shirts every PLC Day! We invite you to see more from our assembly by Clicking HERE to view more pictures. Please consider celebrating with us by sharing our Facebook posts on your social media page.
We hope you are able to have a wonderful weekend. We look forward to welcoming our Siegrist Leaders back on Tuesday.
All the best,
Mrs. Johna-Kaye Sutton
The K2Y (Kudos to You) leaders are a group of students who are mentored by Karen Moreno with Dr. Mann. The K2Y leaders will be demonstrating positive leadership by looking for ways to meet specific needs in our building/community, demonstrate ways to appreciate others and generating a positive culture in our school. A culture is how our school feels when we interact with each other, what we say and what we do. Knowing this is what the K2Y team will do, students who were interested in program had to fill out an application and tell us "why do you want to be chosen to be on the K2Y Appreciation Crew Leader Team".
The K2Y Crew Team is hosting a winter clothing drive to help those who are in need of warm winter clothing. The K2Y team is headed up by Karen Moreno with Dr. Lori Mann and these students: Ethan Morton, Darby Jeffries, Remi Davenport, Kyllie Aho, Alex Bishop, Aliyah Aubuchon, Cirocco Bardi, Alex Leeper, Addalyn Watson, Bentley Johnson, Ashton Yurko, Grace Blankenship, Campbell Jaros, and Maisie Aho.

Second Semester…….Continuation of Excellence
Did you know the district utilizes Fastbridge to assess students in their reading and math progress quarterly? Additionally, Fastbridge has a component, called SAEBRS, where we look at social/emotional needs. We use the data to help determine if students are progressing, in need of additional support, and to provide meaningful experiences in a safe and caring environment. Second semester is a continuation of learning and excellence. Your child(ren’s) teacher and staff members are working daily to help your child(ren) be successful, to this end your partnership is crucial, here are some ways you can help:
School attendance; can’t stress the importance of being at school for your child’s educational success. December average student attendance percent is UP (see below chart). Thank you!!
Tardies count against student attendance, reach out to us if you or your child is needing supports
Communicate with your child’s teacher with any changes, needs, or wonderings you have about your child(ren)
Read your teacher’s weekly newsletter….shared electronically each Thursday
Students in grades 3-5 will be participating in the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) in April and May, getting ready to take the state assessment doesn’t start then. Taking the MAP assessment is our students’ chance to showcase their learning throughout the year(s).

State Assessments and Planning Ahead
As we look forward toward Spring 2023, parents have already begun to ask when the Platte County School Districts state tests administration window is. While we don't know those exact dates yet, we do know the window does not vary much year to year. Last year our state district assessment window was from April 19-May 20th. If you are planning any family vacations, trips, etc and have a student in grades 3-5th, if you could try your best to avoid your child(ren) from being absent during this time (April 19-May 20th) it would be very much appreciated. When an official Spring 2023 district assessment window is announced, and then a Siegrist specific building testing dates are determined, they will be shared with our school community.
Thanks for planning ahead and partnering with Siegrist staff.
