A Moment With Mrs. O'Donnell
Dear Attea Families,
Can you believe SPRING BREAK is on the way? There is so much excitement in the air as we have had 5th graders enjoy our ANYTHING GOES on Thursday. For some this was there first time in the building they will be welcomed to next year as 6th graders. All current Attea students experienced a LIVE Musical preview this afternoon! It has been my honor to observe the students and staff's hard work and dedication every day after school!
One way we are focusing on developing a positive Attea community is by having SEL grade level celebrations on Thursday and Friday of next week! Don’t forget to share your school spirit for our SPRING theme days next week. Administration will be removing students from celebrations, if there behavior has impacted the learning of others. If students exhibit unacceptable or unsafe behavior, administrators may request a meeting to determine action steps to support students in changing behaviors. The end of the school year has many special events for students which are a privilege to attend. We want all of the students to be able to participate in end-of-the-year activities. We appreciate your support in assisting our students in making positive choices for all.
TRIMESTER 3 STAR AWARDS
We are continuing to work to find new ways to promote positive school behaviors! Our amazing SPAT PTA is providing gift cards to raffle three times during Trimester 3! Our goal is for ALL students to be safe, be responsible, and be respectful! Please talk with your students about making good choices to help our learning community. Staff are catching students "in the act" and handing them a star ticket. They place their names on the ticket and choose a raffle prize bucket to put them in based on the prize they would like to win. We will be having our first STAR AWARD raffle on Friday, March 24th!
We are at 12% parent response on the 5Essentials Parent Survey. The rate increased over conferences, as stations were provided to assist in opportunities for feedback. We need a 20% parent response rate to receive results allowing us to focus on strengths and improvement. The Attea community values your support and partnership!
Please take the parent survey today!
Hope to see you all at ANYTHING GOES. Looking forward to a great spirit week before Spring Break!
Go Flyers!

2022-23 Illinois 5Essentials Survey
ONLY 2 WEEKS LEFT!
Have you taken the 5Essentials Parent Survey yet?
Your input on this statewide survey -- given to parents of all students throughout the state of Illinois -- allows us to help us improve our schools for our students. As a parent, taking the survey will allow you to share your thoughts on the important elements of school effectiveness. The statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey is administered for the Illinois State Board of Education by UChicago Impact at the University of Chicago. The survey gathers data related to five indicators that can predict important student outcomes, including improved attendance and larger test score gains. These five indicators that affect and predict school success are:
Effective Leaders
Collaborative Teachers
Involved Families
Supportive Environments
Ambitious Instruction
Prior research in more than 400 schools shows that schools strong on at least 3 of the 5Essentials are 10 times more likely to improve student outcomes.
Please click here to take the parent survey. We ask that you take the survey for each school in which you have a child. We will be pleasantly persistent in the coming weeks as we hope to reach 100% participation before the survey closes on March 31, 2023. We plan to use the results of this year's survey to give us a clear picture of our schools' climate and culture. If at least 20% of parents participate in the survey, a parent supplement report will be generated and we will share these results with the community.
