Lenten Service Projects
At Saint Mary’s School, each class has selected one of the Seven Corporal Works of Mercy as the anchor for their Lenten service project. Our eighth grade class selected “Bury the dead” as their anchor; they walked to Wyoming Cemetery to place flowers at the grave sites of family and friends, and they plan to attend a funeral at St. Anthony’s Shrine in Boston for the homeless and those who have died alone or with no next-of-kin. A few of our classes have observed “Feed the hungry” throughout Lent by collecting food items for Servant’s Heart Food Pantry. Our second grade class chose “Visit the sick” as their anchor and they will be visiting a local assisted-living facility to deliver handmade cards and sing to the residents. These are just a few examples of the ways in which our students and teachers are turning outward in service to the most vulnerable in our local communities.
I want to thank our students and teachers for bearing witness to Christ through their good works. It has been a blessing to watch them grow in their faith as they prepare their hearts and minds for the Resurrection.
Ticket sales, sponsorships, and donations can be accessed via the Disco Ball website (please click here).
