Principal's Message
Dear LaSalle II Families-
As previously announced by CPS, the district is moving to a 5-day quarantine/isolation period. This is what this means for your family:
Children who test positive for COVID-19, regardless of their vaccination status, will need to isolate and learn at home for five days rather than 10. If the child still has symptoms after Day 5, they should continue to isolate at home for the full 10 day period. If the child no longer has symptoms after Day 5, the child will be free to return to school on Day 6 with the following precautions in place:
From Days 6 - 10, students will keep their masks on at all times, including while outdoors, except when eating or drinking.
When masks must be removed for eating and drinking, these students will maintain six feet of social distance from others wherever possible.
Children who are not yet vaccinated or are not up to date on their COVID-19 vaccines, and who have been identified as close contacts of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, will need to quarantine and learn at home for 5 days rather than 10.
Children who are up to date on their COVID-19 vaccines, and who have been identified as close contacts of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 will not have to quarantine at all.
We are very much looking forward to more in-person learning for our students!

CPS Covid Self-Report Form
If your child is a close contact to a positive case, please contact administration with a copy of the positive test. This is required in order for your child to receive remote learning.
Student Covid Testing
If you are interested in having your child participate in testing, please follow the link below and complete the registration process. A parent or guardian must register any minor under 18 years old, and you’ll give a one-time consent and HIPAA authorization to share your child’s results with the school and district.
Testing is optional for students, except for unvaccinated and partially vaccinated student athletes. Testing will take place during regular school hours and results will be available in 24 to 48 hours. Color Health will follow up with you directly if the pool in which your child participated has a positive result.
We strongly encourage all students, especially those who are unvaccinated, to participate in testing.
Vaccination Records
In the event of an exposure to a positive COVID-19 case at the school, vaccinated individuals will not be quarantined if they are asymptomatic. In order to avoid your child being flipped to remote while the CPS contact tracing investigates the case, we strongly recommend that you submit a copy of the vaccination records. The records will be added to your child's school health file and will help to expedite the contact tracing process. To submit a copy of your child’s vaccination card, please submit to our school nurse Joanna Saa at jsaa1@cps.edu. You can send a hard copy to school with your child if you prefer. They should give it to their homeroom teacher who will give it to the main office where the school nurse will enter the form into Aspen.

February SEL Theme of the Month: BLACK HISTORY MONTH!
Each February, we celebrate the history of black people in our country by learning about their stories, sharing our own experiences, and examining how we can strive to improve our own diversity and inclusion practices at home, in school, and in our global community. Please use this month as an opportunity (hey, January theme!) to have the sometimes difficult conversations that hopefully lead to heightened understanding, awareness, and appreciation for humanity with your students at school and your children at home.
Check out this month’s Bitmoji classroom for a wide variety of resources, books, and videos to help prompt conversations about Black History Month this year!
