Message from Principal Loveland
As we continue to build upon our safety and security measures at Wamogo, we will be practicing a variety of lockdown drills throughout the next few months. As part of our planning with Troop L, we will be practicing our January lockdown drill with local authorities. They will be focusing on ensuring a rapid response by responding as they would in an actual emergency. This will include using their police sirens, cyber keys to gain access to Wamogo in multiple entrances, and then meeting up at a designated place within the building. This will help Troop L evaluate their response time and practice navigating through our building to become more familiarized with the layout.
While we normally do not announce lockdown drills in advance, we feel it is best to notify our school community due to the integration of police into this drill. We certainly do not want any students, staff or parents to be alarmed with police approaching the building in response to the lockdown announcement.
The safety of our staff and students remains our primary priority and this plan will only strengthen our protocols. The date of the drill is expected to be on January 8, 2019 at approximately 1:00 p.m. I will confirm this date and time when we return from winter recess.
As always, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Sabin Loveland
