Celebrating Our School Counselors!
This week was Counselor Appreciation Week and we celebrated our school counselors for all they do to support the students and staff of Corley! Ms. Cunningham and Ms. Huston are the best and are continually engaged in supporting our students in learning how to interact with peers and adults, while also providing social-emotional support, classroom lessons, and more. We are fortunate to have such an amazing student support team at Corley!
African American History Month
African American History Month will be an exciting month of learning at Corley Elementary School. Faculty staff and students have already started decorating the doors with information about influential African Americans with an emphasis on their accomplishments and character traits. Pictorial highlights of great moments in African-American history have been posted throughout the building. Each morning we will feature a significant historical event that has changed our country on the morning news show. We will also feature a video of Martin Luther King III reading his book titled, "My Daddy, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr." Our goal is to use our displays and activities to educate and inspire the students and staff at Corley.
Early release days for parent-teacher conferences are schedule for Wednesday, February 17, and Thursday, February 18, 2021. Conferences will be held via Zoom (please note if you have more than one child, you will need to sign up for separate times). It is extremely important that our teachers meet with all parents this week. The home-school connection is crucial to student success. The parent-teacher conference sign up link is listed below and may also be accessed from the Corley Elementary website (www.corleyelementary.org).
We look forward to meeting with you to discuss your child's academic progress. Thank you!
RBES Parent Survey
Due to the pandemic, GCPS is administering a contactless version of the RBES Parent Survey this year. There will be no paper or school computer option. Instead, SchoolMessenger will deliver an email invitation to families to complete a survey for each school at which they have one or more enrolled students.
The confidential survey will be available in English, Spanish, Korean, Vietnamese, and Chinese and will be accessed using the link and unique code provided in the SchoolMessenger email.
The RBES Parent Survey will be available from February 8 through February 26. Your participation helps us to continuously improve our school.
Please watch for an email with your link and access code. Thank you in advance for making your voice heard!
