Shaping Hearts and Minds in the Service of Christ 10/8/2021
Accreditation Process is Complete
This week encompassed the final days of our quinquennial five year accreditation process. Your teachers worked in teams with their fellow colleagues compiling data, documents/resources/lesson plans as well as creating thoughtful narratives that provided evidence for the 4 domains, 13 standards and 70 benchmarks of the accreditation tool for the past few months.
Last Tuesday and Wednesday we completed this process with a site visit consisting of ten team members. The team members included 4 individuals from our Diocesan Office (Superintendent of Schools, Curriculum Director, Religious Director and Safe Environment Coordinator), five principals from around our diocese and Angelia Salas, Director of Services from the Michigan Association of Non-Public Schools. These members completed a final review of the documents, evidence and narratives, observed lesson instruction, and interviewed parents, teachers, Father Dwight and myself.
It is always a wonderful experience to share our St. Mary School with visitors. They were all very impressed with the amazing staff and students of St. Mary! I am pleased to announce that we have been recommended for FULL ACCREDITATION!!!!!
My deepest thanks to the teachers and staff of St. Mary. You embody what it means to be a true servant of God. Thank you for all of your hard work, not only through this process but each and every day you show up to do God's work. Thank you to our amazing parent club officers who fed everyone (with the help of The Big Salad!) and provided wonderful hospitality to our guests during their two day visit. Thank you to the Whitten family who provided a wonderful boost of caffeine to the staff today. We really needed it! And finally, thank you to all of our parents for trusting St. Mary School to shape the hearts and minds of your little ones on a daily basis. This community is such a blessing from God.
Job well done by all!

I am also the co-president of the Spanish honor society at LCHS, and I am excited that St. Mary's is teaching Spanish and LCHS will be running our first fundraiser with St. Mary's to collect and send school supplies to The Farm of The Child in Honduras. We will be holding this fundraiser this week Oct. 4-Oct. 8. Any and all school supply donations are appreciated, especially reusable water bottles, art supplies, and general school supplies.
