Free Food Boxes
We're back in business! Thanks to a grant through the USDA, we're now able to offer more free food boxes on Wednesdays at three BSD locations beginning Wednesday, October 7:
Aloha High School: 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. (or until boxes are all distributed)
Beaverton High School: 12 p.m. - 1 p.m.
Southridge High School: 12 p.m. - 1 p.m.
We anticipate that each 44-lb. box will contain fresh produce, dairy and meat. There are no requirements to pick up a box. The distribution is open to all.

BE SMART - Gun Safety Information
The COVID-19 crisis has created new challenges for parents. Kids are out of school and spending more time at home. The boredom and isolation that they may feel poses additional risks to their safety. Securing all guns in the home — storing them locked, unloaded and separate from ammunition — can save your child’s life.
Moms Demand Action has an educational campaign called the Be SMART program. This program asks parents and guardians - gun owners and non-gun owners alike - to “Be SMART” and take these simple steps:
Secure all guns in homes and vehicles
Model responsible behavior
Ask about firearms in other homes that your child visits
Recognize the role of guns in suicide
Tell your peers to Be SMARTCOVID-19 Metrics for Reopening Schools
We continue to carefully watch the county and state COVID-19 metrics in anticipation of starting hybrid learning. Numbers are released weekly. Because we have more than 10% of our employees who live in Multnomah County, we are tied to Multnomah County numbers. In short, we need to see:
30 or fewer cases of COVID-19 per 100,000 people in Washington (and Multnomah) County over 7 days for 3 weeks in a row to begin Hybrid Model for Pre K-3 students.
10 or fewer cases of COVID-19 per 100,000 people in Washington (and Multnomah) County over 7 days for 3 weeks in a row to begin Hybrid Model for grades 4-12.
