Global connections and collaborations - forging new pathways
Another newsletter sharing pathways into globally connected and collaborative learning.
Let me ask you a question or two....
- What are YOU doing as an educator to connect yourself to the world?
- How are you connecting your school to global opportunities?
- How are you connecting your students to others globally for collaborative learning?
Did you miss the last few newsletters?
Happy collaborating!
Julie Lindsay

NEW global project - Poetry with Passion and Performance - starts in April
Turn all your students into successful poets!
Flat Connections is delighted to join with award-winning global project designer Chris Trimnell to offer this global project in 2018.
The Poetry with Passion and Performance project is for Grade/Year 3-6 (approximate age 8-12). It has been created by the award winning Australian educator Chris Trimnell, a Flat Connections Global Educator and Project Manager.
Poetry with Passion and Performance is designed to ensure student success by using carefully scaffolded poetry examples. Students will enjoy having a genuine audience as they are allocated to teams representing students beyond their own classroom walls. The final challenge will be to use any multimedia of their choice to co-create new versions of the poems with fellow team members.
In 2018 the Poetry with Passion and Performance project will run Monday April 23-Friday June 15.

A sad day....Wikispaces closing.....
Flat Connections has an interesting challenge ahead - as do many educators and organisations - how do we effectively archive student collaborative work so that this developmental period in online global collaborative learning since 2005 is not lost forever? As a researcher and academic my head and heart are both hurting around this logistical problem.
I also keep finding and remembering wikis that I use and recommend for others to use....that will not be there anymore. Where will they go? Where will those shared resources, those knowledge bases go to? My prediction is there will be major losses across the education world - much of what is out there will not be replicated elsewhere, for a range of reasons. I will keep you posted on what we decide to do at Flat Connections.......
