National History Day
North Forsyth students participated in the Regional Competition for National History Day at Kennesaw State University! Piper Spence-Vaughn submitted a research paper and Shravya Adiraju submitted a documentary. The ladies, both sophomores, were promoted to the state level. In addition, Shravya won second overall in the senior project category! The state competition will happen on April 20 at LaGrange University, where students from all over the state will attend to compete for a chance to advance to the national competition held at the University of Maryland in June.
National History day is a competition open to all middle and high school students. Each year a topic is chosen by the national committee, and students choose events, people, or situations in history that best fit this topic. The 2024 topic is Turning points. Students must research their topic, finding primary and secondary sources, then craft a project that fits the parameters set out by NHD.org. Through competition students have the chance to win cash prizes, scholarships, and build their research and presentation skills.
