EMS Procedures
APPOINTMENTS: If your student has an appointment during the school day, please send a note with him/her the morning of the appointment. The student should then bring the note to the office and a secretary will write a pass for the time the child should leave the class.
ITEMS BROUGHT TO SCHOOL: If your child has forgotten something for school and calls you to bring it for him/her, please leave it in the office. The child should know to come to the office to look for the item when he/she needs it and not expect to be called out of class.
BUS PASSES: Bus passes are issued on an emergency basis only. You must contact the Transportation Department (591-8965) to arrange for an emergency pass.
CARE CENTER: This is an area in the office where students can go when injured or ill. A secretary will tend to the student by either caring for him/her or calling an emergency contact to pick the child up.

Dear Parents:
I am very pleased to have an opportunity to share some thoughts with you each month regarding Grand Blanc East Middle School. I am excited and energized for this new school year. I look forward to getting to know our students and parents. Education is a partnership and children are more likely to succeed if they have the support of parents, teachers and adult mentors.
We had a very smooth opening again this year. The transition between summertime and school can be difficult. We appreciate your support in establishing routines with your students at home. Setting time aside for discussing your child's school day, doing homework and getting enough sleep all contribute to the success of your student’s day. In turn, our staff (teachers, clerical team, support, custodial, administration, counselors, volunteers, etc.) at Grand Blanc East Middle School work extremely hard to make sure we are ready for our students each day. Thank you to the many volunteers who have helped to get this year off to a fabulous start. We appreciate your continued support!
Sincerely,
Jodi Kruse, Principal

Food Allergy Reminders!
Food Allergy Awareness
There are about 5.9 million kids living with food allergies, 1 in 13 kids under the age of 18, which is about 2 in every classroom. The holiday season from now through the new year poses threats to kids trying to manage food allergies. We would like to increase awareness about food allergies by reminding students and parents of the following:
· Food allergies are very serious. It is not a joking matter.
· Reactions can be life threatening.
· Preventing exposure is crucial
o Don’t share food, forks, knives, spoons, or straws with friends
o Wash hands before and after eating. Some people with food allergies can get sick even if they are touched by something that has a tiny bit of food on it.
· If a friend with allergies is sick, tell an adult right away. This will make sure that your friend gets help and gets the medicine they need to feel better.
· Food allergies can make Halloween even scarier. Please remember not to bring anything with nuts into the classroom.
Halloween Lock-In
The Halloween Lock-In will be held Friday, October 25th from 4:30 to 6:15 pm. There will be a DJ, gaming room, open gym, concessions, & a costume contest. Doors are only open to enter from 4:30 to 4:45 and pick up is at 6:15. Students are encouraged to wear costumes which they will need to change into at home, however, costumes are not required. There will be prizes for the most creative costumes. No weapons or masks are allowed. Tickets are $5 and will be sold during lunch Thursday, October 24th & Friday, October 25th, and at the door. Concessions, including pizza, candy, soda, and water will be available for $1.00.
This is a great opportunity for students to show off their fun costumes and socialize with friends! We hope to see your middle schooler there.
If you are interested in chaperoning the lock-in, you can sign-up at https://bit.ly/2lYhS2X.
#Creativity!
In 7th grade art class, students learned how to use paper mache to create sculptures. Aside from getting quite messy, they also got very creative!
