A Note from Ms. Owens
Although we are not entering a new week as the statement above starts, the message is still so very important. We need to be gentle with ourselves, with our families and with one another. We can all do with a little extra grace during these stress-filled days.
On a personal note, I want to say thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who sent birthday wishes to me today. The pictures and videos were so very lovely. The smiling faces and homemade messages absolutely boosted my spirits. They made this day quite special! (Insert heart emoji here.)
On Tuesday, Governor Pritzker extended the "stay at home" order through April 30. Following the governor's announcement, the Office of Catholic Schools (OCS) sent out communication directly to all families in Archdiocesan schools to confirm that our school buildings will remain closed until at least April 30. Additionally, OCS has made the decision to suspend ACT Aspire testing for the 2019-20 school year. A copy of this letter is available below this post. I will continue to share information regarding a possible return date as I receive it from OCS.
On Monday of this week, I sent out information about families facing financial hardship during this crisis. I've linked that letter in one of the buttons below.
And now for some quick but, important, news...
- If your family is interested in hosting Morning Announcements and Prayers, please sign up at the button below. We've scheduled sign-ups through Holy Thursday and then resuming on Monday, April 20.
- Spring Break will happen as scheduled on the calendar. Mrs. Kehoe and I are putting our heads together (from our own homes) to come up with some activities we can host during the break from classes.
- For our First Communicant families, we have not yet had any word about First Communion. Like so many other schools, we are asking the questions and awaiting answers.
- The Dream Raffle is still up and running. If you'd like to purchase a ticket, please click on the button below.
Please continue to pray for one another as well as all those people on the front line during this crisis. Stay safe and stay healthy.
Peace,
Kristine Owens

Heart of the School Nominations
It is that time of year when we celebrate and honor the dedicated staff and faculty of Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Chicago - particularly those who serve the St. Catherine of Alexandria community.
Nominations can be submitted by any person who is a stakeholder or constituent of the school community - teacher, staff member, administrator, student, parent, volunteer, etc.
Any current teacher, administrator or staff member who works in a Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Chicago can be nominated for a Heart of the School Award. Employees can be full- or part-time employees and must work directly for the Catholic school (not a third-party organization).
Nominations must be submitted electronically, and they will be accepted through March 30, 2020. The button below will take you to the web page for nominations.
Queen of Hearts Raffle
While Queen of Hearts has been paused, the SCA community can support the owners of Bar 106, the local business that hosts our Queen of Hearts drawings, by ordering curbside pick up from The Whistle Sports Bar and Grill.
