From the Principal
Dear Copeland Families,
Thanks to all the wonderful volunteers who assisted us at our 3rd grade Multicultural Day today! The kids had a blast as they visited China, Italy, Mexico, Germany, Australia, and France. What a fun day of learning for all!
The week of March 21st, we will have benchmark testing for grades 3, 4, and 5. No lunch visitors will be allowed at Copeland on Tuesday, March 22nd, Wednesday, March 23rd, and Thursday, March 24th due to grade-level benchmark schedule changes. Thanks for your cooperation and understanding. The end of the third nine weeks will be March 25th.
Our students are getting excited about the Day of Awesomeness which will be held here at Copeland on April 8th. All students will attend during the school day, and it will be lots of fun. There will be obstacle courses, interactive games, and a DJ dance party! Please send your child with an extra pair of socks that day as they will have to remove their shoes to jump in the inflatables. Thanks again for your generous support of our spring fundraiser.
I hope you all have a wonderful and fun spring break with your families. We have the best families in CFISD!

Car Rider Procedure Reminders
We would like to remind you of a few car rider line procedures that we have in place to ensure the safety of all our children. We load and unload many students each day, and safety is our top priority.
- Please do not make a U-turn at the intersection of Scenic Canyon Lane and Mossy Ridge Lane. Please go to the end of the line.
- Please do not drive through the first lane. This lane is for daycare vans, daycare cars, and “red tag” car riders. Our “red tag” car riders are students in our Early Childhood Special Education program.
- Please do not park and walk your child(ren) up to the entrance of the school. You should only park if you need to come into the front office.
- Please do not let your child(ren) out on the street to walk across the parking lot to the front door. This is not safe.
- In order to keep the car line flowing, please do not stop or let your child(ren) out of the car, until directed to do so by a staff member.
- Our school day begins at 8:00 a.m. Staff members unload cars from 7:40-8:00 a.m. After 8:05 a.m., students will be marked tardy.

Registrar's Office - Attendance
Dear Copeland Parents,
Pre-K/Kinder Pre-Registration begins April 4th for the 2022-23 school year. For more information, please click the graphic above.
Transportation changes must be requested by 2:45 p.m., and the latest early pick-up time is 2:45 p.m. as well. Thank you for honoring this, as there are many moving parts at the end of each school day.
Instruction begins at 8:00 a.m. daily, and students who arrive at 8:05 a.m., or later, are marked tardy (unless they are bus riders who are never marked tardy). Please do not drop off your student if the front door is closed. Parents or guardians must sign their child in at the front office if they arrive after 8:05 a.m. Thanks for your cooperation.
If your child is absent from school, please send a signed note or a doctor’s note (if available) at the time the student returns to school.
Excuse notes must be provided to the school within three (3) days from the date of the absence, or consecutive absences.
A phone call and/or email will not excuse the student’s absence.
Students with excessive absences and/or tardiness will be referred to the district’s truancy officer.
Every day counts!
Clinic - Nurse Kane
DONATIONS NEEDED: The clinic needs clean, gently used pants of all sizes for both girls and boys. Adjustable or elastic waistbands are best. Thank you!

PREVENTION
Self-Monitoring
- Students, staff and visitors must screen daily (prior to entering a school bus or school) for symptoms of COVID-19. If symptoms are experienced, individuals must not report to school or work until evaluated by a licensed healthcare provider.
- Symptoms of COVID-19 include:
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Loss of taste/smell
- Nasal congestion
- Sore throat
- Headache
- Fever at or above 100°F
- Vomiting/diarrhea
Isolation
- Students who show symptoms of COVID-19 at school will be evaluated by the nurse and will be excluded in accordance with CFISD communicable disease exclusion criteria.
Thank You to Our Community!
- Thank you to the PTO for the "Lucky to have you!" staff appreciation meal and desserts! We loved the decorations, Raising Canes, and the desserts! But we especially love our PTO!
- Thank you 3rd Gr. parents for volunteering so much time and creativity to make the 3rd Gr. Multicultural Day a success! The kids learned so much about many different cultures with many hands-on activities!
