Dear Middle School Ranger Families,
We wanted to take this opportunity to remind you of a quick break in our students' normal schedule... April 8th is a day to take in the solar eclipse. All buildings in the Hamilton Local School District will be closed that day.
State testing is approaching as well. Please keep these dates in mind if you must schedule appointments.

Autism Acceptance Spirit Week
Assistant Principal Week
This week was Assistant Principal week and we wanted show our love and appreciation to Ms. Coalter, our Assistant Principal, for all she does for our students, staff, and district. This is her first year as Assistant Principal at HMS and she is an array of sunshine. She works countless hours to ensure our students are heard, respected, and challenged.

8th Grade Science Rocks Roller Coasters
Eighth grade students have recently studied forces and motion in science class. Students used marbles and foam tubing to make 'roller coasters' in the 8th grade hallway. This project helped exemplify physical science concepts like friction, gravity, and inertia, all while working in cooperative groups.

HMS Math and ELA Intervention
We are very excited to have begun a new initiative at HMS where students in need of extra instruction can receive intervention for Math Monday-Tuesday and ELA Wednesday-Thursday during their AIM time.
Math Intervention students will be will be focusing on math fluency and ELA Intervention students will be focusing on vocabulary instruction and reading comprehension skills.

Anyone who purchases a yearbook during the month of February will be entered into a drawing for a gift card, as well as random prizes over the course of the month.
Student Reminders
1. AirPod, Earbuds, Headphones-
Students are not to be wearing any device that fits in or covers ears while walking in the hallways. This includes, but is not limited to, AirPods, earbuds and/or headphones.
These items may only be worn when directed to do so by a teacher.
2. Food/Drinks-
Students are not to have food and/or drinks in class. Food/drinks should remain closed and in lockers until lunch. You should not have snacks in the classrooms or hallways.
Students are only permitted to have water throughout the day.
3. Hoodies-
If students choose to wear a hoodie in the building, the hood MUST REMAIN down. Students who are repeatedly told to take their hood down will be banned from wearing hoodies at school.
4. Blankets, Snuggies, Comfy Sweatshirts-
All blankets and blanket type items are to be left at home. This includes Snuggies and the Comfy hoodies.
Dismissal Reminders
Please make sure your child knows of their transportation arrangements each day. If a change needs to be made, please contact the school BEFORE 2:00 so we can get the message to your child. Contacting the school after 2:00 does not guarantee that your child will get the message.
Car Rider Reminders
1. Car riders should exit the building using the front doors.
2. Students should enter the vehicle once it has pulled up to the sidewalk area. If you do not see your student, please continue to move forward so we can keep the line moving.
3. Students should not be walking across the parking lot or the grassy area to get to a car that is not yet to the sidewalk. This causes a significant safety concern!
4. Drivers, please drive slowly, follow the flow of traffic and be patient!
Student safety is of utmost importance! Please help us keep our students safe by following these guidelines.
