CARLSON COURIER
Champions Under Construction
Greetings Champions,
Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there! I hope you are celebrated for all that you do and how much you mean to your family and to ours at Carlson. It's true what they say, "a mother understands what a child does not say." I've also come to realize the depth of this and how the meaning significantly changes at different stages of life. There's no one like you and from all of us at Carlson, we wish you a very Happy Mother's Day filled with special moments that show you are truly appreciated and loved. Enjoy your special day.
Ok, here is the official we are less than 2 weeks away from summer break. And if this past week was any indication they are going to fly by and be jam packed with lots of activities and end of year celebrations. This past week we stocked up fpr summer reading by taking advantage of the BOGO book fair. Thank you to Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Roberts and the many volunteers that made it a huge success. We appreciate all of your support and help with running the book fair. We were also treated to a few performances this past week. Mrs. Hays and her Theater club performed after school on Monday in the MPR and sang for a packed house. Great jobs students and thank you Mrs. Hays for sharing your talent and gift of music and theater with your students. In addition our Kindergartens capped of a great year with one last field trip to Odysea Aquarium. Students enjoyed learning about sea life and having a little fun while doing so. Then on Wednesday our 6th graders held the very first Carlson Gravity Cruiser Challenge. Thank you the Sun Lakes Rotary Club and their Partnership with A World In Motion (AWIM) to help bring this STEM project and competition to Carlson. Great job 6th grade and special thank you to Mrs. Bruder and Mrs. Ferber and the rest of the 6th grade teachers for taking this amazing learning experience on and providing to our students. On Thursday we welcome a record number of new Kindergarten students to Carlson for the 2023 - 24 school year. Huge shout out to the amazing Kinder teachers and specials team from being such great hosts and giving a thorough overview of what to expect for next year. And then we turned around and heard from the Carlson Band for their final Spring Concert of the year. They put on a fantastic show and wowed the audience. Bravo Mrs. Artist and all of the Band students. You all have been working so hard all year and it really showed. And if that wasn't enough on Friday 5th grade put on another Fair, a State Fair and presented their projects to both family members, and other classes. We saw some pretty detailed dioramas and heard many interesting facts about all 50 states. Once that was done, we had to take a Fun Friday break. Thank you PTO for providing shaved ice slushies for everyone.
Coming up this week our current 4th graders will get a sneak peak into what Band and Orchestra might be like next year. Then we are celebrating our final Birthday Book Club of the year. Also, incoming Kindergarten students will be taking their KIST tests after school all week in the media center. On Thursday the big kids are starting their final steps toward completing elementary school. First up is the trip to the Hamilton Pool followed by yearbook signing. And on Friday we have our Talent show in the MPR in the afternoon. Looks like it's going to be another busy week for the Champions.
Thank you and have a wonderful week everyone!
Sincerely,
Mr. Morgan
