Tardies are a Concern
Many days, approximately 10% of our student population is tardy to school. This makes it challenging to start our day in the main office, as we are checking many children in at the front desk. This also impacts ABSENCES, as tardies add up to days of absence.
If your student is tardy frequently, please make an extra effort to get them to school on time. Students who are tardy to class miss instruction; it's also a difficult start to a school day. Thank you for helping us to reduce tardies at Hillside.
On time. Every day!!
2-hour Late Starts and Snow Days
As we face the possibility of inclement weather, this is just a reminder that the district may call a 2-hour late start on a day when we have snow in the morning. A 2- hour late start means that school begins at 10:30 a.m. Students may arrive at 10:20 a.m. so they get to their classrooms by 10:30.
Grab and Go breakfast options will be available on a late start, but hot breakfast will not be served. Lunch service may also be adjusted (regarding menu), and lunch will be served.
There will be no Club 66 in the morning. Bus routes will be backed up 2 hours. After school activities will be as usual.
As always, please do what YOU feel is best regarding getting safely to school!

PBiS Particulars
We are a PBiS school! PBiS stands for Positive Behavior Support and Intervention. PBiS does more than just recognize those students who are doing the right thing. PBiS can also help students who need to develop the skills necessary to be successful in school. As a team, we develop and refine plans for students who need a visual, a structure, feedback, and rewards to develop the skills of positive behavior.
We work on a Skill of the Week every week as a school. Look below for next week's skill!
