Romeo and Juliet: Act 3.1

Summary
The scene begins with Mercutio and Tybalt arguing in a street in Verona. romeo enters, and Tybalt and Merctutio's arguing stops. When Tybalt confronts Romeo, Romeo says that he loves Tybalt, which enrages him. Tybalt begins to insult Romeo, and Mercutio comes to his defense. Mercutio draws his sword and challenges Tybalt to a duel. Romeo tries to stop them and when he does Tybalt stabs Mercutio killing him. Romeo is made very angry by this and duels Tybalt killing him. Romeo flees, and the Capulet and Montague families come into the street. They show the prince the dead bodies. The Prince asks Benvolio what happened, and he says that Tybalt started the fight. But because Romeo killed Tybalt he was exiled from the city, and would be killed if he ever was seen, or talked to his parents again. Juliet does not know about this.

This song, has lyrics that convey the state of a broken heart. When Mercutio is stabbed with the sword by Tybalt Romeo, Benvolio, and the audience are all very sad. They lose a very important character. Romeo blames himself, which makes me believe that this song represents Romeo's emotion: Heartboken.
