March Newsletter
March 1, 2024
Greetings Madrona Families!
As we enter into the month of March, a season of renewal and growth, it's essential to acknowledge the various elements that make this month unique for staff, students, and our greater school community. With spring just around the corner and daylight-saving time beginning on March 10th, we find ourselves anticipating longer days filled with both challenges and joyful opportunities.
This month, one of the challenges our Building Leadership Team is faced with is creating a schoolwide budget for the 24/25 school year. During this process, we'll work collaboratively to ensure that all the decisions we make are in alignment with our schoolwide goals and promote academic success for the students we proudly serve. During the next PTSA meeting, I will share our proposed budget and provide families an opportunity to ask questions about our proposed budget.
In honor of Women's history month, we will spend some time learning about the impactful contributions women have made to the world. Our SAS and PBIS Committees are collaborating to plan a worthwhile assembly for us. As soon as the details are finalized, I will share them with you.
On March 11th - 14th, our 5th graders are going to Camp IslandWood which is located on Bainbridge Island. This is an overnight fieldtrip where learning is extended beyond the classroom. Our students will be engaged in critical thinking, scientific investigations, and activities that build awareness and concern for the wellbeing of others and our planet.
This afternoon, we are having our Black History Month Assembly at 1:50 pm in the gym. I know it is late notice, but if you are free today, you are more than welcome to attend.
Thank for being such a wonderful community. We are extremely grateful for your support and partnership. Please read the rest of our newsletter to find out what is happening in our community.
Best Wishes,
Regina Carter
