Please contact me at schnapsc@collierschools.com if you:

This week's Career Cluster Video:
(remember a career cluster is a group or family of related careers,
there are 17 different career clusters.)
Career Clusters contain occupations in the same field of work that require similar skills. Students, parents, and educators can use Career Clusters to help focus education plans towards obtaining the necessary knowledge, competencies, and training for success in a particular career pathway.
Explore all the careers listed in the O*NET Manufacturing career cluster.
Individuals interested in these kinds of careers might want to check out the Applied Welding Technology Program offered at Lorenzo Walker Technical College.
To investigate all the LWTC programs visit LWTC.EDU.
Please consider registering for some of our free Career Workshops offered at Lorenzo Walker Technical College including our Resume Workshop, tomorrow.
Also of interest might be the Machining program offered at Immokalee Technical College!

This is an amazing free resource. Teachers please take some time to look at each lesson as we present a brief Financial Literacy lesson each week.
Click here for the entire resource. It's also available in Spanish.
Now that we know the basics, let's move on to Planning your future.
This week let's look at LESSON 1: Your goals.
Community Resources
Community organizations are a great place to find helpful resources, places that can help us with sometimes difficult situations. Community organizations depend on volunteers to help provide those resources. ONE of the very real ways to become part of a community is to become a volunteer within that community. You interact, speak and assist those living in your own backyard. Volunteering is a great way to practice our skills and also can be a great way to look for future employment.
This week we take a look at Grace Place for Children and Families. Grace Place is a faith-based non-profit focused on breaking the cycle of poverty by teaching literacy, language and life skills to children and families at risk in Collier County. A representative from Grace Place will be at Lorenzo Walker Technical College from 11:00 AM to Noon this Friday, April 7th in Mustang Alley to answer questions about services and let you know about how you can volunteer.
VITA is the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. It is a program that offers no cost tax filing services to working individuals and families with household income of $64,000 or less.
The IRS also has lots of videos on their youtube channel. CLICK HERE
