NEW Indiana SUN Bucks - Summer EBT
More information regarding the Summer EBT Indiana SUN Bucks will be shared at a later date. However, it is imperative that you ensure your address is updated in the school's system in order to receive the SUN Bucks cards.
It is expected that cards will begin arriving at home addresses in early June if your scholar qualifies and mailing address has been updated.

KINDERGARTEN-
*Mr. Stock nominated Dayren Ramirez Marquez - "I would like to nominate Dayren Ramirez Marquez for the Scholar of the Month award. Dayren is an exceptional kindergarten student who exemplifies the qualities of a model student.
Dayren consistently demonstrates outstanding academic performance, consistently ranking at the top of his class. His dedication to his studies and his commitment to learning are truly commendable. Dayren approaches every task with enthusiasm and a desire to learn, making him a role model for his peers.
Beyond his academic achievements, Dayren is also a kind and compassionate student. He is always willing to help his classmates and shows respect and empathy towards others. Dayren’s positive attitude and willingness to collaborate make him a joy to have in the classroom.
In addition to his academic and personal qualities, Dayren is also a hard worker who is always willing to put in the effort to achieve his goals. Whether it’s mastering a new concept or completing a challenging assignment, Dayren approaches every task with determination and perseverance.
I believe that Dayren Ramirez Marquez is truly deserving of the Scholar of the Month award. His outstanding academic performance, kindness, and work ethic make him an exceptional student and a valuable member of our school community."
*Ms. Warren nominated Kervens Baptiste - "Kervens is a hard worker in class. He is always willing to help and always does his best. He participates in during the lessons. Kervens has shown tremendous growth this school year. He takes pride in his accomplishments and shows his leadership skills."
*Ms. Adams nominated Briana Flores - "Briana is a model scholar inside the classroom. She goes out of her way to be friends with all scholars in the classroom. She also shows academic growth, and a drive to excel in Kindergarten every day. She goes above and beyond in everything she does."
FIRST GRADE-
*Ms. Spychalski nominated Genesis Caceres - "For always working hard, helping others and being a great example to other scholars."
*Ms. Dalton nominated LaPromise Breaston - "She has never missed a day and she tries her best to be her best every day with her behavior, attitude and academics."
*Ms. Miller nominated Zai'yon Scott in Mrs. Wilson's class - "Zai'yon is always ready to help others."
*Ms. Halsmer nominated Elien Matias Guvara in Mrs. Dalton's class - "Elien is always ready to learn and willing to help his friends with translating."
*Ms. Wilson nominated Jack Ramirez Lapop - "Jack is a pleasure to have in class. He comes to school every day and tries his best. He is always willing to help others. He helps other scholars who struggle speaking in English. He is a great helper during centers and is always willing to lend a hand to help his group when needed."
SECOND GRADE-
*Ms. Drew nominated Legacy Henderson - "Legacy always comes to school with a great attitude. She consistently works hard and has proved that she is excited to learn numerous times. Legacy goes out of her way to help other scholars and lend a friendly hand."
*Ms. Williams nominated Jayden Harney - "Jayden works hard everyday in all academics and shows his best work even through challenges. He checks over his work to make sure he does not need to make any changes without reminders."
*Ms. Harris nominated Joshua Smith - "Joshua has shown a love of learning throughout his 2nd grade year. He passed IREAD and loves to help his peers! He keeps our classroom lively and comical with his funny jokes and antics. However, when it is time to focus and put in effort he is always the first to get started and finish his work. He strives to do his best every day."
THIRD GRADE-
*Ms. Hunter nominated Ayvan Clay - "Ayvan continues to display mastery in both reading and math. Ayvan has also improved socially emotionally. He is one of our classroom tutors and leaders."
*Ms. Reed nominated Bayina Saint Fluer in Ms. Hunter's class - "Bayina works really hard and is a polite and outstanding scholar."
*Ms. McKinney nominated Jazzlyn Alverado in Ms. Louissaint's class - "100% of this school year she has been engaged, on task & learning during my small group time."
*Ms. Oberson nominated Kechna Charles - "The reason I nominated Kechna Charles for the Scholar of the Month is: First, Kechna is very respectful and helpful to her Teacher and peers. She has a perfect attendance record. She has received a golden ticket each month consecutively for her classroom behavior. Kechna also received two previous awards for excellent behavior at the Honor Roll ceremony. She has been rewarded with a Falcon Feather by numerous teachers which is awesome that others can see her efforts. Kechna has proven that hard work and determination pays off! As an ELL scholar moving to the US not knowing the English language in less than a year to pass her IREAD test is a huge accomplishment. Lastly, Kechna is an excellent example of a leader at PLA."
FOURTH GRADE-
*Ms. Friedly nominated Ladel Larousse - "Ladel is consistently working hard and following directions. He is helpful to his classmates and completes and turns in all work on time and completed to the best of his ability!"
*Ms. Hornaday nominated Danaica Daceus Donacien - "Danaica is always willing to do things for other scholars in the classroom. She is always paying attention and loves to learn!"
FIFTH GRADE-
*Mr. Dickey nominated Erwin Cifuentes - "Erwin is always setting great examples for other scholars. He continually receives high scores on Vimme and Cold Read tests. He's very quiet in the halls and classroom. Keep it up, Erwin!"
*Ms. Rimer nominated Aleiyah Williams-Mallard in Mr. Dickey's class - "She is very compassionate with every student and a team player."
*Ms. Tschudy nominated Darensky Baptiste in Mr. Dickey's class - "Darensky works hard, even completing homework for which he'll earn no points from his EL teacher."
*Ms. Stevenson nominated Hector Molina - "He has been working hard on improving his writing and is engaged in all of our lessons, adding to the discussion in a meaningful way."
SIXTH GRADE-
*Ms. Dominguez nominated Coltyn Kepner - "Coltyn is always working hard in his class and is always doing the right thing. He doesn't let his classmates behavior affect him and his learning. He is always trying to make the classroom a better place for everyone."
*Ms. Hollowell nominated Adriana Oliva-Padilla - "Adriana embodies every quality that a scholar ought to possess. In her peer group, she is a leader. She offers to translate for her classmates who are struggling with the English language and to help them in any way she can. She had to leave the state earlier in the school year, but she returned and carried on with her outstanding academic performance and leadership in the classroom. Adriana has demonstrated resilience in conquering all obstacles."
*Ms. Turner nominated Demiyah Williams in Ms. Dominguez's class - "The scholar has demonstrated hard work, dedication to completing assignments, helpful, caring towards others."

A Note About Morning Drop-Off
If you bring your child to school after 8:15 am, you must walk your child into the office and sign them in.
ILEARN Begins April 15-May 10
Statewide Standardized Testing
ILEARN will be given April 15-May 10.
On-time attendance is very important during these assessments so that your scholar can be present to do their personal best on the test. Scholars who are tardy and/or absent will have to make up the test. You can help your scholar do their best on ILEARN by:
* ensuring they get a good night's sleep
* providing breakfast at home or having them at school in time to eat breakfast in our cafeteria
* ensuring your scholar arrives at school between 7:20am-7:45am
Free Tutoring Opportunity
Educational Tutorial Services is providing free tutorial services in conjunction with
IndianaLearns.org for youth in grades 3rd through 8th. We provide a statewide, virtual program in
Math and Reading, with unlimited hours through June 30th 2023. Youth must be on free or
reduced lunches, reside in Indiana, attend an accredited Indiana school and performed below
proficiency in Math or Language Arts on the ILEARN test during the 2023 school year.

Car Rider and Walker Dismissal
Attention Parents & Guardians
If your child is a car rider, please get in the car rider line, stay in your car, and give your car rider number to the staff member on the corner.
If your child is a walker, they will be dismissed with walkers.
If your child is a car rider, but you opt to walk to school to walk them home, please call the office before 1:30pm (317-226-4103) to change the way your scholar is expected to go home that day. Otherwise, they will not be called until walkers are dismissed.
