Attention 8th Grade Students
The end of the school year is vastly approaching for our 8th grade students. Teachers are now preparing for ‘8th Grade Appreciation Week’ Activities. During this period, students will have an option to participate in the “8th Grade Sneaker Formal” on Spirit Cruises, a “Field Day” devoted to fun activities and contests amongst their peers, and the “Moving On Up Parade” for students to have one last fun filled afternoon with family, friends, and staff as we wish them well on their transition to high school.
Students must be in good academic and behavior standing to attend.

8TH Grade Student-Athlete Recognitions
What a great week to honor our student athletes. We recognized our 8th grade students during their respective final home game - basketball, cheerleading and soccer. Thank you for your dedication, and commitment to excellence in the classroom on on the court or pitch.
ODU Field Trip
It was a bit chilly, but the students enjoyed being able to see and experience Old Dominion's campus. They got to see The Webb center where they can get Starbucks, Chick-fil-a, and Qdoba. They also got to see some of the academic buildings and the student recreation center. The residential halls were enjoyed by everyone and of course a couple of students made sure to ask if could bring their gaming systems if they lived there!
Battle Of the Books
Great showing for our students that participated in the Battle of the Books. Our brilliant students finished 4th in the competition.

Integrated Reading and Writing SOL Test - April 9, 2024
Shout out to our Phenomenal ELA8 Team for creating and conducting learning stations this week to prepare 8th graders for the Integrated Reading and Writing SOL Test they will take Tuesday, April 9, 2024.
It is obvious from the students' feedback on the exit ticket that they found the activities engaging and helpful in preparing them for the state assessment. We are extremely proud of the staff and students for all of their hard work and effort in these learning stations. 💚💛
