A Note from Ms. Davis
Dear Families,
The first few days of school have been productive! I enjoy seeing our students enter the building each day with smiling faces and ready to get to work. They have welcomed our new students and teachers in such a sweet way. As I walk the halls and pop into classrooms, I have seen students engaged in their work. They have been learning about Reading "stations", going to art/music/library classes, preparing for physical endurance assessments in PE, and taking instructional tours of the new buses, our cafeteria (we have NEW furniture!), and the playground. I know I'm having FUN because the days go by so quickly! If I can assist you in any way, please do not hesitate to call or come by.
Sincerely,
Cindy Davis,
Principal

The Word of the Week
Picture Day is August 29!
MONDAY'S ECLIPSE
AES is ready for the 2017 Eclipse Across America on Monday, August 21! Our teachers and students will have the opportunity to experience an extremely rare event. Participation will vary from going outdoors to view the eclipse with official eclipse glasses to watching the live broadcast inside. Teachers interested in having students go outdoors to view the eclipse will be sending home forms requesting parent permission.
Student safety is our primary concern. It is never safe to look directly at the sun's rays. You must wear eclipse glasses at all times if you want to face the sun during any part of the eclipse.
TRAFFIC FLOW AROUND OUR CAMPUS
CAR LINES
N Houston and N Madison are ONE WAY streets. For the safety of our walkers, only PreK cars should be using N Madison St.
BUS LINES
WALKERS
TRANSPORTATION
It is important for us to know (and for your child to know) how students will be transported to and from school. During the school year, if there will be any change to the method of afternoon transportation, we must be notified in writing of this change. You must notify us in one of the following ways; send in a written note, send a fax, or email your child’s teacher (copy the email to Vickie.Carr@acs-k12.org.) For the safety of our students, after 2:30 p.m. there can be NO CHANGES in dismissal plans and no pick-ups from the front office without administrator approval.
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU GET A RESPONSE - NO MATTER WHICH WAY YOU CHOOSE TO NOTIFY US.
If you don’t get a response your child will be sent home their regular way.
