GO PANTHERS!
iReady Diagnostic- We need your help!
Why do our kids need to take this assessment?
This will help us to prepare for the Fall (whatever that may bring) and begin planning for supports that will ensure all of your children are successful!
When should they take it?
Students should take the assessment when their teachers direct them to. Please stay in contact with their teachers on Google Classroom or Seesaw for more information.
What happens with their score?
Students do get a growth score but they do not get a grade for iReady. Instead, the program provides the teachers and school with information regarding the concepts that your child knows and can do well as well as the concepts they do not know and will need further instruction on in the future. This will be monumental in understanding how your child progressed this school year as well as in planning for 2020-2021!
What does the test look like?
Students will log into iReady just as they have been doing on their ipad or laptop during the closure. They will begin the diagnostic. It will look very similar to what they see when they go onto iReady to complete the lessons. Your child has done this two times earlier in the year so they know what to expect! Also, the assessment adjusts in difficult as they child continues through the work. If they get a question correct, it increases in difficulty. If they get a question wrong, it decreases in difficulty. It uses this to determine their exact performance ability in both ELA and Math.
Here are some very important tips for giving the diagnostic:
- Encourage your child to try their best and take their time. If they rush, their scores will be flagged and they won't accurately represent what your child can do!
- Provide your child with a quiet and non-distracting location to take the diagnostic. For a lack of a better word, these are tests. Although they won't provide your child with a grade, they help us to better understand what they know and what they don't know so we can plan for the Fall.
- Students must take this INDEPENDENTLY. Please do not help them with the answers.
- If your child becomes frustrated, just remind them to do their best. If they have tried and absolutely do not know the answer, tell them to move on. Don't let them get stuck on one problem for too long!
Most importantly, if you are struggling or need help, please contact your child's teacher. They can guide you and support you through giving the diagnostic to your child(ren)!
Below are some PowerPoint Presentations that you can use when speaking with your child in preparation to begin their diagnostic at home!

Counselor's Corner with Mrs. Sears
Hi Panther family!
We are in the final month of the school year: June. Starting with this week's smore, I am going to provide you a comprehensive sheet of how to close out this 2019-2020 school year to be able to start a fresh summer break. As we all know this school year is unique in a big way and the summer will be just the same. Why not have the end of the year be as unique, right? Read over the comprehensive sheet I provided with this article to start thinking how am I going to close out this school year with my child to help them to move forward into their summer of 2020.

Important Message from Nurse Mullikin
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Hope this finds you safe and healthy.
To say that this has been a strange year doesn't even come close.
I just want to touch base with my families on some of the end of year things from the health office. And to make you aware of some things for the upcoming school year.
To begin:
1. Vaccinations- New York State passed a law (PHL 2164) after the 2019 measles outbreak, that has changed the way we look at immunizations.
Most immunizations are part of a series, or require boosters that are given on a schedule. The state is very strict with adherence to that schedule.
By Law a child CAN NOT attend school if 14 or more days have elapsed from the recommended date for a vaccine
I am in the process of mailing out letters to let you know what immunizations your child will need in order to start school in September. I have enclosed the reports from the NYS database that will show you what immunizations your child needs and what the recommended date is. In most situations the 14 day grace period has already passed. Meaning the child CAN NOT start school without having received them.
We can no longer accept and appointment date as an indication that the child will receive the vaccine.
All children entering kindergarten must have a second MMR (measle, mumps, rubella) and Varicella (chicken pox) booster.
Children age 11+ entering the 6th grade must have a Tdap booster.
Children that are less than 11 entering 6th grade, must receive that Tdap booster within 14 calendar days of their birthday, or by law they must be excluded from school. I will call you to come pick them up. It's the law.
Children entering 7th grade and 12th grade must receive a Meningitis vaccine.
Please get these done over the summer and get copies to the health office before school starts in September to avoid delays with your child being able to start classes. Again we can not accept an upcoming appointment date. After 14 calendar days your child will be excluded from school.
2. Physicals- Law requires all students entering school for the first time ie. Pre-K, Kindergarten (if your child did not attend Pre-K) and new enrollments to have a current physical examination on file in the health office.
In addition to the above, students in grades 1,3,5,7,9, and 11 are required to have a current physical on file.
If you child received a physical after sept. 1, 2019 that counts as an acceptable physical.
If you have an appointment scheduled, please notify us of the date, and send a copy in as soon as it is done.
If by December 31st, 2020 we have not received a copy of a physical for your child, he or she will be scheduled to get a physical done by our school physician.
And finally:
3. Medications
As needed medications- In the elementary building, I packaged them up, with a blank order sheet for next year and sent them home with your child's last work pick up and personal belongings Thursday 5/28/20. If your child will need these medications next year, please get the order filled out and signed by your physician and bring the order and medication in next year. Please don't forget to sign yourself up on the upper third of the consent.
Routine or daily meds-I have mailed out new orders/consents for daily medications that I administer here at school. Please have your physician complete them and return them over the summer by mail or fax 607-5279866 elementary building, or 607-527-9860 for the high school building.
Remember to sign your signature also where I put the *. I have filled them out for the most part. If there is a change in medication or dosage the physician will have to do a new order.
If you have any questions or concerns feel free to email me @ kmullikin@cscsd.org. I will be in and out of the office throughout the summer but do not have specific days. I will check messages when I'm in the office.
Hope you have a great summer. And more than anything here's hoping that we never have to experience this again.

Unemployment - Loss of job due to Covid-19
Below are resources to help:
Go to the website at www.labor.ny.gov to begin the unemployment process. Create a NY.-gov ID to get the process started online. From there, a Department of Labor representative will call you directly to confirm details and get unemployment started.
Call in number is 888-209-8124 (this takes longer and with large call volumes it is difficult to get through)
Best way is to go online through the website www.labor.ny.gov
and create a NY.-gov ID to get started online
