Bordeaux Elementary School
Weekly Update - April 7, 2024
Dear Bordeaux Families,
I hope that everyone had a wonderful Spring Break. We are all recharged and ready to welcome the students back for the final couple months of school. It’s always a busy time of the year, so make sure to keep checking classroom newsletters, the BDX Website and Facebook page for upcoming events and important dates.
Track permission slips went out the week before Spring Break. These can be turned in to teachers through this Tuesday the 9th. We will not be able to accept new athletes after that date. Our track season will be starting up the week of the 15th. More information to come.
This Monday students will be reviewing our school wide Bulldog expectations during specialist time and will also review expectations in class. We want all our students to be Safe, Respectful, and Responsible each day.
Books from our classroom libraries should continue to come home with students in their book bags. We hope that you are finding time to enjoy these books with your students. I love going into classrooms and listening to the excited way students talk about what they are reading. If you are like my family, if I simply ask my daughters how school went, I usually get an ok or fine. By asking specific questions I have a better opportunity to get a detailed response. One thought would be to ask your child what they read that day. How did they like it? What was one of their favorite parts? Is it funny, scary, adventurous? What makes the characters interesting? Engaging children in discussions about what they are reading is an excellent way to develop a conversation around the excitement of books. Don’t be afraid to share about what you are reading as well.
I’m looking forward to seeing all those smiling faces back and ready to learn tomorrow. As always, it’s a great week to be a Bordeaux Bulldog!
Kyle
