Methacton High School Campus Planning
The Methacton High School Campus Planning Process has been in the works for the past several years. It started back in October of 2022 with the recognition that a proposed $25-$30 Million Dollar heating, ventilation and air conditioning renovation was short sighted given the myriad of challenges on the campus. Formal organization of the Methacton High School Campus Planning Committee began in August of 2023 which resulted in 63 recommendations addressing:
- Parking, Traffic, Aesthetics;
- Operational Costs;
- Accessibility;
- Sustainability;
- Sewer Plant;
- Central Office Building;
- Transportation Building;
- Feedback from Students and Staff;
- Campus Safety and Building Safety;
- High School Auditorium, Band Room, Choral Room, West Wing Classrooms, Kitchen, Pool, Boiler Room, Main Gym, Art Rooms, Science Classrooms, Tech Ed Classrooms, Athletics Office, Large Group Instruction Rooms, Principal’s Office, and Math Labs.
At a minimum, the district anticipates having to invest in $70 Million in the next 5 years and given the feedback from the community, the development of a comprehensive campus plan is most appropriate.
In preparation for determining the path forward, the district presented the potential financial impact of such future investments to include a tax impact to the averaged valued home of $444,824.60 to include:
- Scenario 1 - $100M Borrowing would result in a tax increase of $54.29
- Scenario 2 - $140M Borrowing would result in a tax increase of $144.06
- Scenario 3 - $180M Borrowing would result in a tax increase of $278.52
The district Owners Representative presented 4 pre-conceptual options including:
- Option 1 – In-Place Renovation $95M - $99M
- Option 2 – In Place Renovation with Pool and Auditorium additions estimated at $112M - $118M
- Option 3 – Some Renovation with Pool, Auditorium and Classroom additions estimated at $148M - $156M
- Option 4 – New Construction estimated at $175M - $205M
The options are listed here and an online public feedback form is available here.
The district is holding open forums in the Methacton High School Library on February 29 at 7pm and March 11 at 7pm to gather feedback from the public and to answer questions.

WOODLAND
Woodland Celebrates Reading
This year’s Read-A-Thon encouraged students to read, read, read while helping to raise money for Woodland H&S sponsored activities. Congratulations to Miss Hess’ third grade room for reading the most. Her third grade classroom received a pizza party in recognition of their great accomplishment. Woodland would also like to recognize individual super-readers: second grader, Leigh, and third grader, Nivedita. For their reward, Leigh was transported to school in a Lower Providence fire truck, and Nivedita will be transported to school in a Lower Providence police car in the near future. Congratulations to our super readers!
Souper Bowl Food Drive
Woodland Elementary School's "Souper Bowl" food drive was a huge success. Over 200 cans of food were donated by our students and families. Although it was close, in the end our students chose the Kansas City Chiefs as their predicted favorite to win the big game.
100th Day of School
What a great time our Woodland Kindergarten students had on February 8, our 100th day of school. Students did a variety of counting, math, exercise and play activities to celebrate the special day. Thank you to our Kindergarten teachers for making this day so special
