Attendance Line π€
Our attendance line is up and running. Choose Option #2 when calling your child out for the day.
Arrival and Dismissal π
Please make sure you don't drop off before 8:30 we have no supervision.
Please stay in your car when dropping off. This keeps the traffic moving much faster.
I know we are all in a hurry to get somewhere in the morning but for our student safety we ask if you are going to park, please make sure to walk them across the parking lot and drop off lanes. This way our students are safely getting to the sidewalks.
Please make sure you are picking your child up NO later than 4:00. By this time students are ready to see their loved ones and are looking forward to their evening activities. Our teacher contract is 8:30-4:00. The admin team wants to honor our teachers time by letting them go home or work in their classrooms at 4:00. Thank you for your support.
Late Arrival or Early Check Out π
Reminder: That 3 tardies OR 3 early check-outs equal an absence.
Please make sure to get your child to school by 9:00 am. Teachers begin their teaching first thing in the morning and to make sure your child is not missing essential learning it is very important for them to be on time.
We do ask if you have to check your child out early to do that NO later than 3:00. We start transitioning to dismissal areas and students are in hallways or common areas.
O.S. 70Β§10-106, Section 387, School Laws of Oklahoma
If a child is absent without valid excuse four (4) or more days or parts of days within a four week period or is absent without valid excuse for ten (10) or more days or parts of days within a semester, the attendance officer shall notify the parent, guardian, or custodian of the child and immediately report such absences to the District Attorney in the county wherein the school is located for juvenile proceedings pursuant to Title 10 of the Oklahoma Statutes.
Dismissal Changes
We do know that emergencies happen but we ask that if your child has a change in the way they go home please notify the office by 2:30 pm. This gives us enough time to notify the teachers of the dismissal change.

A message from PTA:
Hi! I hope you had a great winter break. I wanted to send out an update on a few things we've got going on and coming up.
- Yearbooks are for sale. We did not sell them in fall at all as an experiment to see if it's easier. Here's the link to purchase one: Barnes-elementary-school-pta.square.site We will also be sending flyers/envelopes home soon if you'd prefer to pay with cash/check. We kept prices at $20.00. Purchase yours by February 1st and you'll be entered to win a free yearbook. (The winner will have their money refunded back to them.) More details can be found in the listing online.
- Teacher Appreciation Week: Are you interested in helping plan for Teacher Appreciation Week which is May 6-10? Join the GroupMe discussion here: https://groupme.com/join_group/98228052/RO9Ph8g6
- National Popcorn Day: Friday, January 19th, is national popcorn day and PTA will be giving popcorn free to every student this day.
- Spring Popcorn Sign Up: Are you able to help make popcorn? Here is the Sign Up: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050A45A9AE2FA7F49-46783348-popcorn
- Election Committee: We need to have at least a few members help us with the election committee. There's isn't much responsibility, but per the standing rules we have to have a committee to see that the electing of PTA members for the following school year is fair. The committee will just have a GroupMe where information is posted about potential board members. Time commitment for this is the least of any committee for the PTA. Join the Groupme here: https://groupme.com/join_group/98411528/SATZc6V5
- Virtual PTA Meeting: February 5th we will have a virtual PTA meeting online. The exact time in the evening will be sent out soon. Here's the link for the meeting: meet.google.com/wcw-kveo-hui
- November's PTA Meeting Minutes: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DXkWqFI3NNG1KqTaTQ_ZxhYFIROkXTw4/view?usp=sharing
- Heart Decor: We'll be asking for volunteers to help take down the winter wonderland decor and then on a different date hang the heart decor for February and March. Please be on the look out for those dates and times.
- Interested in becoming a board member for next school year? Please contact a current board member if you're interested in becoming a board member for the PTA. Board members serve one year commitments. We are taking nominatons for all four positions (president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer) and most are self-nominations. We have two nominations thus far: President: Amber Medved and Vice President: Lori Brown. All board member positions will be voted on during the April 1st PTA meeting.
- We need your feedback! Please fill out this short anonymous survey. This will help us determine what events/activities to plan for next year and if you have any ideas or suggestions for anything PTA-related. We NEED your feedback to take to the principal for the next school year please! Survey: https://forms.gle/ZLcTSqwoqYjAPtuNA
Thank you for being a part of Barnes PTA and making this school shine!
