From the Principal's Desk
2022 sure has been exciting so far here in Waterford! I hope this newsletter finds everyone's family well.
As some of you are aware, Waterford Elementary, like the community around us, has been affected by the recent surge in Covid cases as we returned from Winter Break. Please make sure to reference the announcement of LCPS updated mitigation and quarantine procedures that can be found HERE. A few things:
- If your child is fully vaccinated (two doses) against Covid -19, you can provide that documentation to Mrs. Partin in the Health Office. This will help us speed up the contact tracing and quarantine determination.
- If your child is asked to quarantine - we ask that they remain home and off school property for the duration of their quarantine. Please do your best to limit interactions with other students outside of school during the quarantine period.
- AND MOST IMPORTANT - if your child is feeling unwell, please do not send them to school until they are feeling better.
Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.
CIP Update
I'm pleased to announce that last night at the School Board meeting, the upcoming Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) was passed. There are a few important projects included in the CIP that directly affect our school community.
- Additional classroom next year - Over the summer - we will remove one of the outdoor cottages and it will be replaced with 2 new cottages. That is a net +1 classroom for our school - which gives us the much needed space to have 2 sections at each grade level next year.
- School Addition - in the next couple years, construction is planned for an addition to our building that will add 4 classrooms and a new multi-purpose room. Included in this addition is the removal of all the outdoor cottages - brining 13 classrooms (we have 11 total now) and a new multi-purpose room (gym) all under the same roof.
Thank you to the many parents that spoke at School Board meetings in support of these much needed improvements to our campus that will allow us to serve our community for years to come.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

New Door System at Front of Building
The 'button' that visitors use to request entry - has been updated with a clearer camera and a separate camera and location to display ID. Once your reason for visit and identity has been confirmed, we will "buzz" you in and you can come in. UPDATE - the door closest to the camera is now the one that will unlock.
Once you come in the building, there is another "button" to push that will allow you entry into the main office. After you have signed in, entry into the building is made through the new door off the main office.
Thank you in advance for your patience as we learn this new system. There are many new 'clicks' and 'buttons,' but we are learning as quickly as possible!
Finding the Lunch Menu
One thing to be mindful of - make sure all the filters are set correctly as the new system defaults to the Academies of Loudoun Snack Menu... Make sure you are looking at Waterford Elementary and click over on "Lunch."
