Intergenerational Bingo
The Alfred H. Baumann Public Library's "Kindness Cards" partnership program with Mayor Kazmark and the Borough Council in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a huge success. The community was asked to drop off valentines for seniors. Over the last month, almost 400 valentines were collected and distributed to the Woodland Park seniors, the Passaic County Adult Day Care Center, and local nursing homes.
The service project culminated at the WP Boys & Girls Club with an intergenerational bingo tournament and luncheon with assistance from the Woodland Park Recreation Department, the Friends of the Alfred Baumann Library, and Library staff.
Beatrice Gilmore School "Influencers," Memorial Middle School student council members, WP Girls Scouts and Brownies, and Library Junior Ambassadors and teen volunteers played bingo together for fun and prizes. The students also served the seniors lunch and treats.

Souper Bowl
Both Charles Olbon School preschool classes and Beatrice Gilmore School took part in the annual Souper Bowl food collection drive to help tackle hunger. Students in the five preschool classes at CO collected 125 items. At Beatrice Gilmore, about 600 items were collected under organizers Mrs. Seavy and Mrs. Roehrich. The food was donated to the St. Agnes Food Pantry in Little Falls, which serves residents throughout the area.

Simple Machine Study
During the simple machine study, Mrs. Morozowski's PreK-4 class at Charles Olbon School transformed their dramatic play area into an auto body shop. The students worked on creating different types of simple machines to add to their shop. They even made a car using a recycled box. The students listed all the different simple machines found at the auto body shop.

Neighborhood Buildings
During their recent buildings study, PreK-3 students at School 1 walked around the local neighborhood, discussed buildings they saw, and drew pictures of them on their clipboards. As they drew, they talked about the shapes they saw. As they walked, they saw a florist and a gas station, and many houses. They counted the buildings and later compared the total to the predictions they made in the morning. Shown are students in Ms. Wittig and Mrs. Guariglia’s classes.

Imagining The Future
Ms. Tonti’s first grade class put their imaginary and creative skills to the test for the 100th day of school. The students were given a difficult task to complete: What would you look like when you are 100 years old? The children illustrated some pretty amazing portraits depicting themselves at 100.

Save The Date For BGHSA Clothing Drive
Save the date for the next Beatrice Gilmore School Home & School Association clothing drive fundraiser on Sunday, March 19, from 12 to 3:30 p.m. in the WP Boys & Girls Club parking lot, on Memorial Drive. Help the HSA raise funds by cleaning out your closets, attics, garages, and basements. Place your gently used/unwanted items in tightly tied bags. Every bag counts. Give your items a chance to be worn/used again. The more the collection weighs the more the group raises.
