April 2018
Principal's Message
From my office, I transition to the next school year before everyone else. This time of year I am preparing 18-19 budgets, calendars, and hiring staff to fill vacancies. I can find it difficult to live in the moment when my head is so far in the future. But events like Prom, the Badger Conference Top-Scholars banquet on Sunday April 22nd, Senior Formal and Graduation all serve to remind me to connect to our students as they end another year...and as a quarter of our students prepare to leave our little incubator and join a wider world.
We've had a great year so far and I look forward to what these last two months will bring!

Cell Phones in School
However, for a certain percentage of our students who exhibit classic signs of addiction and dependence, the presence and distraction their smartphones represent is having a negative impact on their learning.
Here is a good article in the Atlantic from two years ago that discusses and examines some of the things we are thinking about: "Do Smartphones have a Place in the Classroom?"
We'd love for you to share your thoughts with us and with your students. Please drop me an email or talk to your child's teachers at Parent Teacher Conferences in May.
