A Note From Ms. Hill
Dear Starr Families:
Progress reports were sent home with students on Friday, September 24th. NWEA Family Reports will be sent home with students on Friday, October 1st. Information about NWEA reports can be found on this newsletter. Parent/Teacher conferences will be Monday, October 4th. All conferences will be held virtually or by phone between the hours of 11:00a.m. and 6:30p.m. Conferences are a great time for families to ask questions about student progress reports and NWEA reports. October 4th will be an ELearning Day for students. Students will not report to school. CLICK HERE for more information about ELearning Days.
October is an exciting month for Richmond Community Schools, as our first district Title I event will take place on Tuesday, October 5th. This event will take place at Elstro Plaza from 5:00-7:00p.m. Families will not want to miss out on this fun family activity! Elstro Plaza will be filled with math activities. All six elementary schools, Test Intermediate, Dennis Middle School, and over fifteen businesses/organizations will be represented. It will truly be a great evening filled with math activities, free books and snacks, music, and several food trucks. To build excitement for Math-A-Palooza, Starr will be participating in a Math Spirit Week (September 27th- October 1st). Be sure to check out the math themes for each day below!
Picture Day for Starr Elementary will be Friday, October 1st. Families can order photos in advance by going to https://my.lifetouch.com/mylifetouch/#/ and entering the Picture Day ID: EVT6ZB9FV. Students can also bring order forms to school instead of purchasing online. Even if families do not order pictures, all students will still get their photos taken for the yearbook.
In October, students have two different opportunities to earn Red Wagon (9/27-10/1 and 10/18-10/22). All students who receive zero office referrals and a ClassDojo average of 90% or higher for each of the weeks identified, will be able to choose a prize out of the Red Wagon on Friday of each of the weeks.
The week of October 11th-15th will be Fall Break. Students will not report to school. Teachers and Staff will not be in the building either. If families need to call the school for any reason, please leave a message and we will get back with you on Monday, October 18th.
