The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
While many Americans may want to avoid having the race conversation, Thomas brings a truth to the forefront through Starr's authentic voice, heart, and personal experience involving the murder of her childhood friend, Khalil.
This novel is highly recommended for high school teens and adults to begin a dialogue about a topic that may be a matter of life-or-death for some members of our communities if it continues to be ignored.
