Wolfpack Howler
Volume 21 Issue 2 - Sept 20, 2022
Evacuation Drill to UAF - Tues, Sept 20 @ Extension
In past years, the drill has taken around 20 minutes, so we anticipate being back in the building with time before busses arrive for the end of day dismissal.
**If your student does not have an Extension (Excused) we will be asking them to all promptly leave the building and campus for the day. They will not be allowed to join other classes or spend the period in the Library.
FALL IS HERE:
Greetings Wolfpack Families,
My nine year old daughter commented in the car the other day how beautiful fall was with the leaves changing color. She quickly noted that there were beautiful parts to every season, but the changing colors of the leaves were especially striking. I would ditto both of these statements - something about the fall colors makes me pause to gaze a little longer, and of course I too find beauty in all the seasons as well.
As we 'fall' back into the swing of school, it's a great time to check in with your students on their courses and grades. As a staff, we've been reflecting on how grades serve as a form of feedback for students on their progress and also for teachers on their instructional strategies. As you reflect with your student - are their grades providing you feedback on their learning and progress in classes? If your student is missing work or has questions, do they know how to connect with their teacher to get questions answered?
This fall has been busy, but I am always so grateful for our community and your support and feedback to me on how we can continually collaborate to support our mission of helping students learn to work and think for life.
Take care,
Sarah GIllam

How do I excuse an absence?
If the student has a note from a parent/guardian excusing them, trade it for an excused admit in the front office before going to class.
Students will not be excused without checking into the office first and picking up this pass.
If a student is leaving the building a TownPass must be called in by a parent or have a note with specified time of needing to leave the building (students must sign out in the front office in order to get excused.
If a student is planning to be absent the whole school day, a parent will need to call the front office to excuse the absence within 2 school days of that absence.
