Placerita Prospector
Placerita Jr. High School - October 31, 2021
This Week at Placerita 10.31.21 / Esta semana en Placerita 10.31.21
Good Evening Placerita Families...
This is a rather quiet week as compared to all the activities that we have had recently. We have three weeks of school in November before Thanksgiving Break and three weeks after Thanksgiving before Winter Break. So the next few weeks will go quickly and the second quarter will be over before we know it.
The month of November is dodgeball month with students having dodgeball games every day of the month leading to a championship at the end of the month.
We also start the month this week with Operation Gratitude collecting candy for our service personnel. So if you have leftover Halloween candy feel free to donate it to our ASB. They will take care of sending it all out. Thanks for your help with that.
We hope you all have a safe and fun Halloween today!
Mr. Turner

Sr. Turner

MODIFIED QUARANTINE QUALIFICATION CHECKLIST / LISTA DE COMPROBACIÓN DE LA CALIFICACIÓN DE LA CUARENTENA MODIFICADA
LA County has approved a Modified Quarantine Procedure that fits with what the rest of the state of California. The best part of this plan is that the number of students that will have to quarantine at home will drop significantly. Below is a detailed description of what is required for the Modified Quarantine to take place.
Modified quarantine is for TK-12 students who have verified mask-to-mask exposure with a confirmed case at school during the exposure period. Modified quarantine may only be applied under specific circumstances during the quarantine period which are outlined in this guidance.
ALL the following criteria must be met for student to qualify for a modified quarantine:
UNVACCINATED
The exposed student is unvaccinated.
ASYMPTOMATIC
The exposed student remains asymptomatic.
AT SCHOOL
The exposure was to a person with a COVID-19 diagnoses in any school setting where students are supervised by school staff (indoors, outdoors, or on school buses).
VERIFIED MASK-TO-MASK EXPOSURE
The exposed student AND the person with a COVID-19 diagnosis MUST have each worn a mask consistently and correctly during the entire exposure period. This includes any outdoor exposures.
Prior to applying modified quarantine, verification is required of mask-to-mask exposure between the person with a COVID-19 diagnosis and the exposed student.
School Administrators must keep records of this verification and provide to Public Health upon request.
NO CURRENT OUTBREAK
The exposed student cannot be epidemiologically linked to a TK-12 outbreak group.
If a student qualifies for modified quarantine, they are required to do the following:
IN-PERSON INSTRUCTION ONLY
Students under modified quarantine are still subject to the Health Officer Quarantine Order and must stay at home for the duration of quarantine, except for in-person instruction. They may not participate in extracurricular activities at school, including sports, and activities in the community setting while in quarantine.
TEST TWICE IN THE WEEK
Students under modified quarantine must be tested twice a week using an FDA authorized viral COVID-19 test (e.g., PCR or Antigen) in a healthcare setting or certified testing site.
It is recommended that the first test be conducted immediately after exposure (Day 1 or Day 2 from date of last exposure) and the second test be conducted at least 3 days later.)
MUST WEAR MASK INDOORS & OUTDOORS
Students under modified quarantine are required to wear a mask indoors and outdoors and on school buses, while at school. The exception is for eating and drinking, where they must be at least 6 feet away from other students and preferably outdoors.
Students may be released from quarantine after Day 7 from the date of last exposure if their second test is conducted on Day 5 or later, the test is negative, and the student remains without symptoms.
As a reminder, persons who are fully vaccinated and/or have recovered from laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 within the last 90 days do NOT need to self-quarantine. An asymptomatic student under self-quarantine orders may be approved for modified quarantine if specific criteria outlined below are met. If these criteria cannot be met, then the exposed student must remain in home quarantine.
CrisisGo Student Entry Screening
A choice has been added to the entry screening that indicates the student is qualified for modified quarantine.
The person filling out the survey can enter their last COVID-19 test date for the record.
This will also reveal an acknowledgement by the person responding that the student will adhere to the requirements of the modified quarantine will be followed as described in the Emergency Management Plan.
All criteria must be checked and the person must electronically sign the statement.
If all the criteria is checked and the statement is signed, the student will receive the magenta entry badge shown below. Note the difference from a cleared green entry badge.
If the criteria is not agreed to, the student will will receive an “Entry Denied” badge and must remain in home quarantine.

NO VACUNADO

Students are required to be wearing their IDs all the time they are at school.
There are several reasons that each student is required to wear their IDs during school each day. School Check-in each morning, identification for safety purposes and lunch purchases are a few of the reasons that students will need to have their personal IDs on them at all times just like last year. They will not be required during PE or during time that students are participating in activities where there would be a safety concern like in wood shop.

Hello Placerita Families! We have some very exciting and important news for our community.
The new Student Care Line for Placerita will be broadened to include mental health and wellness concerns. If you are struggling or know someone who is struggling, the Student Care Line will make early intervention possible, allowing for small problems to be handled before they become big problems.
If you are a student, parent, or community member with a concern that needs attention from an administrator at Placerita please text us here. You can send a text message to (661) 282-7522. All text messages received will be forwarded to our former Text-A-Tip line. We now have a new reporting system for our students and their families to use to share a concern about another student's well-being. This reporting system is called the Student Care Line.
Over the last several years, the William S. Hart Union High School District has placed an emphasis on student wellness. Knowing that a student who feels emotionally supported is more successful, the District set out to open Wellness Centers on each of our campuses, with the first of those opening in August of 2019. Now the District is looking to expand this effort even further by taking the existing Text-A-Tip line and re-branding it as the new Student Care Line, providing a more comprehensive function.
Text-A-Tip has been used by students, staff and families to report something out of the ordinary. With the goal being “If you see something, say something"; Text-A-Tip was there to report if someone was wanting to hurt themselves or others, or even if there was the possibility of someone committing a crime.
The new Student Care Line will be broadened to include mental health and wellness concerns. If you are struggling or know someone who is struggling, the Student Care Line will make early intervention possible, allowing for small problems to be handled before they become big problems. Cause for concern might be indicated by:
Trouble controlling emotions
Withdrawal from friends and usual activities
Feelings of rejection or solitude
Feeling constantly disrespected
Frequent loss of temper
Increased risk-taking behavior
Talk of suicide or loss of hope
Self-harm
Declining school performance
Students and families are at their best when their emotional well-being is supported. Please join us in our commitment to this effort by using our Student Care Line when you need it.
