Panther Post
Dec. 17th - Dec. 21st
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
One more week to go! Our evenings are getting full. Last week we had three nights of events as well as a Saturday, and this week there are four nights. I am getting exhausted but I love every minute! I will definitely be ready for the break.
On Friday Congressman Will Hurd stopped by to talk to a technology class about careers in the field (picture below). He was instrumental in securing funding last year for our computer science class. It is always good for members of our legislative branch to be inside real schools and see what is going on.
There is a lot of information in the post this week so, be sure to scroll down and see what's relevant to you.

It is important for our teens and you the parent of teens to Schedule Some ‘Me Time’
This holiday season schedule in some me time and allow you teen to have “me time” this is a time to Sharpen your Saw (“to preserve and enhance the greatest asset you have – you!”)
Our lives are busy! We are busy people! Sometimes we think that if we are not ‘busy” we are wasting time. We sometimes minimize our need for “me” time.
Something to think about- Going for long periods without time for yourself may cost you in the end. (Stress, not as efficient in school or home, relationships struggle). When you do need to get things done your energy is drained. “Me” time can make you a better person both inside and out.
How To Take “Me” Time
Schedule a little “me” time. You may need to give yourself permission to take at least a half hour per day, even if it’s divided, just for yourself. Taking this “me” time can be as simple as sitting outside, reading a book, or engaging in your favorite hobby for a half hour or more. Unless calling or texting a friend or family member relaxes you keep all devices turned off. An important thing to do is let those around you be aware that you will be off limits – except in an emergency, of course. Set your boundaries.
We hope you enjoy this gift you are giving yourself. Have a wonderful few week.

FLU SEASON is in full swing! Per the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the flu is a serious contagious disease that can lead to hospitalization and even death. You have the power to protect yourself and your family this season with these three actions to fight flu. In order to keep our population at Lopez safe and healthy, it is important that we all take everyday actions to stop the spread of germs.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water, and avoid touching your face with your hands!
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, or cough/sneeze into your shirt or elbow.
- If you become sick, limit your contact with others to keep from infecting them --break the chain of flu spreading!
If your child is experiencing flu-like symptoms (fever, headache, sore throat, cough, runny nose, etc.), PLEASE do not send them to school. See the website below if you have questions about if and when to see a doctor. If your child has been diagnosed with the flu, please inform the clinic. If your student has a fever, they are to stay home until they are fever free (<100.0) without any fever-reducing medication for a full 24 hours. This prevents the spreading of infection through the school! Once your student has been fever free for a FULL 24 hours, please send them with a parent/doctors note for their absence. With your help, we can keep Lopez healthy and make sure our students stay Panther Strong.
