Kuna families,
It's been a terrific start to the school year. We love serving your students!
The first weeks of school are full of change and adjustments as we adapt to serving our new and returning students.
We're thankful that last spring we did a good job estimating the potential increase in students. Growth is at about 2 percent more than last year. That might sound small but as we look at growth in the last five years, we've gain more than 500 students or about the equivalent of a new elementary school!
Please join us next Thursday to talk about growth and our schools! You will see info on how to RSVP for this important meeting in this newsletter.
Enjoy the holiday weekend and we'll see your students and our staff back on Tuesday!.
🚍 Adjusting middle school end times
We continue to work to adjust our bus routes to help avoid long waits for students at the elementary and high school. We're adjusting the end of the middle school day by about 10 minutes to help reduce delays. Middle school families please look for more information from your schools. Route times will be updated and posted in PowerSchool.
✔️Update on grades in PowerSchool
Parents can now see grades in PowerSchool.
Grades in PowerSchool and Schoology (this is the online gradebook most teacher use) may not match.
We are working with the two companies to resolve this difference and will keep you updated. Thank you for your patience as we all learn how these systems work together.
How can secondary parents best monitor their student’s progress?
Grades are kept in Schoology -- along with assignments, syllabus, and other information. Our secondary students work in Schoology every day. Ask them to log into their Schoology account and review their assignments and progress.
If you have questions, please reach out to their teachers.
What about elementary students’ grades? We will have more information next week as we work to troubleshoot some issues.
💬 Join the conversation about growth & our schools
We know growth will mean new schools and improvements at our existing schools to serve more students. A committee is updating our 10-year plan and needs your help to finish. On Thursday, Sept. 8, the task force members will gather feedback in a face-to-face meeting at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will include a meal! If you are interested please sign up! If you signed up in the survey, please RSVP.
🍴 Return to pre-pandemic meals
Our nutrition teams are thrilled to be scratch cooking again! The return to freshly made meals means more fresh fruits and vegetables for students when produce is in season. To help reduce waiting times for students on early release Wednesday teams are making "bento box" meals, see photo above.
We're also working to make the menus are easier to read on your smart phones.
This week, we're also publishing detailed nutritional information about the meals in our elementary and middle schools on our website.
The high school features four different serving lines, and we are working on how to best report that information. Please reach out to our nutrition team if your family needs that information.
