Parents as Partners
Hello parents! I'm excited to be your child's teacher and look forward to working with you to make your child's experience at Eastwood the best.
Please fill in this questionnaire to help me to get to know your child a little better. Your time and response is much appreciated.
We know that every child has unique strengths, talents, and gifts. Academic brilliance is only one example of such a gift. Other examples include ambition, curiosity, persistence, organization, courage, coordination, patience, cooperation, and creativity, to name a few.
Introduction Letter
Feel free to also write a letter to us to help introduce your child. Being your child's first educator, you will be able to provide us with insights about your child, which will help us better meet his or her educational needs. Your responses will remain confidential.
Parents often ask what we're looking for in this introduction letter. Feel free to write from the heart and brag heavily about your child. However, there are some survey questions on a second page to help you out if you would like.
To introduce me, my parents have written this letter to help introduce myself to you as well.
Thank you very much for your time and effort! I look forward to a great year!

Growth Mindset
Talk with your child about his or her day, but guide the discussion by asking questions like:
1. What did you do that was difficult today?
2. Did you make a mistake today? What did you learn?
3. What happened that made you feel.....happy, sad, proud, brave?
It will take time for your child to learn to articulate their thoughts and feelings. It is an important skill and learning to communicate clearly with you will make your parent/child relationship even stronger!
Library Policy Form
Please take a moment to review our Library Policy Form with your child and submit the form at your earliest convenience. Students must have the form filled out before they can check out any books. Our library will be opened later this month and class library times will be communicated once your child's teacher has secured a time.

Math
This week we worked on the challenge Four 4's. See if you can solve this one (it's pretty tricky)!
The challenge is to try and fnd every number from 1 to 20 using only four 4’s – all four of them have to be used each time – and any operation. Here's the start of our work as an example. See if you can find the rest!
