Principal's Message
Happy October! Here are a few things so you stay in the know:
~ Washington Walk-A-Thon: We have already achieved our first goal of raising $1000, and students celebrated by having chalk at recess--see the amazing pictures below. We have also achieved our second goal of $2000 and classrooms will celebrate with games in classrooms. Any student who makes any donation will receive a small prize in the coming weeks. Please turn in the Walk-A-Thon envelopes before next week's Walk-A-Thon on Thursday, October 13 (see times and information below).
~ PTO Updates: The PTO is in need of some volunteers for the all-school picnic on October 13. They need help with set up, serving, and clean up. Please use this link to sign up for a time. Thank you, in advance, for your help and support of this fun Washington event. We are also still on the hunt for a PTO Vice President. If this would at all interest you, please contact me.
~ Playground Supervisors: I am still looking for at least one more playground supervisor (approximately 2 hours/day) and a hallway monitor (this I need 3 days/week for approximately 1.5 hours/day). If you know anyone who might be interested in this, please have them reach out to me.
~ Early Release Sign-Up: Our next 2-hour Early Release will be on Wednesday, October 12, 2022. The school day begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 12:30 p.m. Please complete the following form to let us know your plans for your child or children on these days. Please fill out a separate registration for each child.
The school will provide free, optional supervised care from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Supervision will begin at 12:30 and your student MUST BE REGISTERED! If your child attends ACES or YMCA ASA the afternoon of early release, you must sign them up for the 12:30-2:30 childcare, as these programs will not start until 2:30.
Students attending supervised care must be picked up by 2:30 if not enrolled in ACES or YMCA ASA. At 2:30 students will be released to the playground and can be picked up on McConnel Street. Attendance will be taken to ensure enrolled students are at the supervised care. If your plans change, after this form has been completed or if you have any questions, please call the office at 507-345-3059. THIS SIGN UP SITE WILL BE CLOSED FRIDAY, OCTOBER 7, 2022
~ The weather is a changin'...now is the time to start hunting for those jackets, hats, gloves and snow gear. While the weather is still pretty nice, you know winter is right around the corner!
