Where?
Winter ice storms occur frequently in Canada and parts of the USA, Europe, and China.
No one can drive
No one can drive because there were cars that where frozen andĀ could slip.
What?
As soon as supercooled rain droplets reach the earth they freeze solid and can coat everything with thick ice.
How?
High winds near large bodies of water can create huge waves.If air near the ground is bolow freezing spray from these waves can land on cars, roads, and trees coating them in solid ice.
When?
In January 1998 freezing rain coverd parts of Quebec, Ontario,and New England with up to 5 inches (12.5 cm) of ice.
